First Trinity does play out of state powers. This year they have seven district games. The non district games are Manual, MBA and St X. Not a bad non district schedule. Next year there will be openings for seven non district games. According to the KHSAA master schedule for next year, September 29 is not a district weekend for 2007, BUT, the previous weekend, which is normally the Trinity - St X game is a district game. That means that either the district game will be moved or the Trinity - St X game will be moved. I'd like to see the game.

If Trinity couldn't beat MBA (3-3 last time I checked) this year at home, they would get crushed by Hoover, IMO...

 

I have to agree with this. I saw MBA play Dunbar and Trinity......Hoover would crush MBA. It isn't a knock against any KY teams, it is just that fact that Hoover is that good.

 

If anyone in the state should play a Hoover-caliber team then it would have to be Trinity, St. X, or Highlands. These teams would have the best showing for our state and would still get beat badly.

 

Again, it isn't a knock against any Kentucky teams, but playing a top 10 nationally ranked opponent would be a big jump for any team in the state.

I am thinking that the district game will be moved, especially since we only have three of them to play next year. This is mainly due to the fact that alum from both schools, come from all over the country on the third weekend in September, it would be much easier to keep that trend, than to switch it every couple of years while the KHSAA decides who they want to appease the most.

John Curtis HS, the team that beat Hoover last week, resembled St. X talent-wise, except for their A-A RB, McKnight. They were physical with Hoover and ran right at them, then went over the top twice when Hoover expected run.

 

Hoover may beat an X or T, but it wouldn't be a blowout, imo.

I wasn't trying to disrespect Trinity or any KY teams. I was saying that if anyone in the state should play a Hoover-type team then it should be them.

 

That being said, I still don't think KY's best teams are better than Florida's best teams, or California's best teams, or Texas' best teams. There are rare cases, such as Trinity in 2002, or Highlands in 2000, that were top 25 nationally ranked and probably would have won.

 

All I am saying is that there are only a couple teams in the state that wouldn't get embarassed.

I moved from the Hoover area to NKY about 12 yrs ago. My "people" moved from that area about 9 yrs ago, maybe the bowl man and his "people" should get involved in setting a game up. We talked to them the year we got Warren Central to play Elder. I would bet if the money was right Hoover would come up here and play.

Trinity would have no chance, Trinity is a dominate school for KY and would be pretty good in any state but we are talking about the #1 team in the nation and that means that only a few elite teams across the nation are likely gonna be able to hang with the guys and that Trinity is not. A couple of years when Brohm played they could have played with these guys. Trinity needs to keep pounding on the instate teams

Hoover has dropped to #9 in the most recent USA Today rankings following a 28-14 loss to John Curtis of Louisiana.

 

I agree with the earlier comment about Indy Warren Central. If there is a better team in the country I would like to see them. Warren Central is underrated, IMO, at #7. They are a senior laden team sailing through the regular season and seem to be headed for a fourth consecutive Indiana 5A state title.

 

Among the Warriors wins is a 61-12 trouncing of 3-time Illinois 8A runner-up Maine South and a 76-7 win over archrival Indianapolis Ben Davis. Ben Davis would be a serious contender for a 4A state title in Kentucky this season, IMO, despite the margin of loss to Warren Central.
