Hoover, AL looking for game on 9/29/07

That's part of it, but another factor is that schedules are not made to satisfy BGP members. Economics play a big role and games that put visiting fans in the stand help pay the light bills. Many teams that would make excellent opponents do not have support that "travels well."

When you start scheduling out of state teams and in state teams that are a two and a half or more drive away, that becomes a big factor. It is easy for people from Louisville, Lexington, and NKY to criticize some of the eastern Kentucky teams' schedules, but those schools generally have more money to spend on travel and more teams to choose from that are within an hour's drive. Teams can drop down a class, like Ashland did this season, to pick up Russell and Belfry (a long drive from Ashland, BTW), but the Red Devils and Pirates can't play every 3A eastern Kentucky team that wants to beef up its schedule.

That is very accurate as economics plays a big role in scheduling.

I have to add something about the Ashland schedule, though. The last two times Belfry has played Ashland, it has been at Ashland in one year deals. They pay well, but don't like to travel. Belfry is not on their schedule for next year but I hear they picked up Pikeville in a two year deal. However both games are to be played at Ashland (or so I was told).

The Rocks played X at Ryle a few years ago. 3 or 4 point loss I think. I think a home and home with Elder is more likely. I'd also look for some series with LexCath, CovCath and highlands in the future.

I was at that game; X has taken it to another level the last couple of seasons, as evidenced by their Ohio DI state title and their overtime loss to Lakelyn, FLA. They would be a handful(they start 9 underclassmen on defense-2 DB's are Seniors-8 Jr's and 1 So.)

Elder is average again this season(for Elder), but they think their Junior, Sophomore, and Frosh classes are better; only time will tell.

Like most places, schools in the GCL are up and down between each other. Even a down GCL team will likely beat a championship caliber Kentucky team in most games. The reason I mentioned Elder as a likely opponent is based on history and the fact that we already play them on the freshman and JV levels. Moeller falls into that group as well. In fact, in that 03 game X was a last minute substitute because Massillon backed out of a game with the Rocks.

I wish Trinity & X would play those GCL schools on a regular basis; it would only help them; the only reason they are not as good year in and year out is that they typically only have each other to test themselves against and occasionally a great Male team like this year.

If T & X played them regularly, they would be just as good because it would point out their weaknesses, and in turn it would raise the level of the whole state, especially in 4...er....6A.

I wish they played them more too or Ben Davis/Warren Central IN.

I wasn't overly impressed with Hoover on MTV either. I watched Neese H.S. out of Florida when Tebo was there and I thought they were tough. Hoover beat them so they had to be pretty good.

I've also watched Hoover a couple of times on Fox Sports or one of those stations. The Ross kid (QB) was WAY better than he looked on MTV. When he decided to tuck the ball and run it, he had very suprising speed!

X has been playing 3A teams the last couple of years but I'd look for Moeller to be on the X schedule next year deep into the season. As in game 10. This new 6 class system is going to open the schedule up even more for GCL teams in the future.

I think the Bluebirds need to play them at Paul Brown next year!!:D :D

I would like to say i was joking about Somerset playing Hoover we did get shown up against franklin and we would get smoked I wasnt being serious when I said it. Any team would lose to Hoover from Kentucky.

By the way....USA Today #1 Byrnes SC got beat last night.

Byrnes, SC did get beat, but they were the #2 team. De La Salle was already #1.

Warren Central won its first round 5A playoff game over Richmond by a 61-0 score. The Warriors are currently underrated at #7 in the USA Today rankings.

Will this game be on MTV's "Two-A-Days"?

Hoover has created a monster. Someone told me they are running another season of 2-a-days. I bet MTV is a distraction.

^ It is to air this winter, and cover the season that is currently on.

They are filming next season's 2 a days right now. They have been following Mark McCarty, a 6-3 245 pound DE that has been dating a cheerleader since the 8th grade. They followed him on a hunting trip last week end.

So this is what we have become... A chat room talking about a reality show dealing with high school romance with a football backdrop on MTV. Count me out.
