Tough loss for the Jags. Great win for NCC. Cooper is very young right now. They'll have these growing pains this year but if the kids buy in and believe I expect this team to pick up towards the end of the year and carry that over to next season.

Sounds like this could have been even worse.

Breds force a handful of turnovers, and settle for 3 FG's or this could have been worse.

Or it could have been a game that went down to the very end. Ncc first td came after Coopers punter bobbled the snap and didn't get it off inside Coopers own 20. Ncc next field goal came after a Cooper fumble once again inside their own 20. Cooper then is going in for a td to take the lead before half and fumbles at the 10 yard line before scoring. The second half Cooper still down just 6 stops NCC makes them punt and Cooper fumbles the return on the 50 yard line. Which instead of having great field position, NCC ends up with the great field position and scored. The turnovers caused Coopers defense to be on the field most of the game, and eventually NCC run game got going late.

So yeah it could have been worse but it also could have been a game that could have came down to the end. The turnovers was the big difference in this one, just like it is with any football game.

Well the first thing Cooper needs to do is clean up the punting game. Good grief the first two snaps rolled back to the punter and rolled is being generous. Then when they did manage a good snap the "rugby" style punts went nowhere. I am going to estimate the punting average was 15 yards maybe. I believe one went 5 or less. Long may have been 20 and that was because the officials had no clue where it went out of bounds because it was so far out of bounds.

Give Cooper a decent punt game and this one would have been a lot closer. NCC kicker does the rugby punt too but it actually works and results in 35 yard punts with no return.

Cooper OLs/DLs lines are not bad. Maybe not 6A quality yet but room for growth. They have some speed in the backfield and actually threw the ball decently. Again room for growth. RBs run hard and are elusive and tough to bring down.

NCC is improving and that is all you can ask for right now especially against a 6A team. Offense once again got better as the game went on. And playing two QBs is getting it done although the offense moves better when the threat of the deep ball is there and you only get that with one of the QBs who threw some very nice deep balls. Both QBs also play as twin safeties so playing both makes sense.

NCC defense bent but did not break and almost did not give up a score as the lone TD was barely in and they had a chance to stop the receiver short. Good pressure on the QB and seemed like every Cooper run was either for a first down or a minus 1 yard. And you can't ask more from the FG kicker who was perfect.

Interesting games coming up for the Breds. Schedule turns real tough and if they can show more improvement in those games they may be a legit top 2A team before it is all done with.

Tough one for Cooper but I think there will be a lot of games like that this year.

Last week it was interceptions and this week were fumbles. NCC was outstanding at ripping at the ball and that payed off for them big time.

NCC has a good senior heavy team and will do well this year I am sure. Having seen them and Highlands I think NCC was the better team by far.

Cooper is going to have too keep growing this year and learn to eliminate the turnovers. From the scores I see tonight, their district has no clear powerhouses and by the end of the season they can be in the mix.

Unfortunately for the Seniors, this is a rebuilding year - but you have to play the hand felt and make the most of what you have.
