Since moving here 20 years ago, I've heard nothing but how great Larosa's pizza is. I've never seen the appeal. It's ok, but like other chain pizza, I won't go out of my way to eat it. I never order pizza when I eat at Larosa's.

 

Only eat LaRosa's if I have a ticket stub from a Reds game/strikeouts promotion. Seems high priced for what you get. Isn't a slice at Reds games and Kings Island like 6 bucks?

Of that list, Pizza Hut. Thin-n-crispy.

La Rosa's is way better than anything on the list IMO.

The pricing at the actual LaRosa's restaurants is on par with any other pizza joint. Using sporting events and theme parks as a barometer for pricing is not the way to do it.

The longer I live in NKY, the less I like LaRosa's.

Something definitely changed with Pizza Hut over the years. Growing up, we always ate at the Pizza Hut in Erlanger. Their pan pizza was the best. Now, the only thing I'll eat from there are the breadsticks. For carry out, we always got Little Caesars. You got 2 pizzas on a piece of cardboard wrapped in a paper bag. I'm not a fan of their regular pizzas today, but their personal pan pizzas are pretty good.

 

My favorite is Jets. They remind me of the old Pizza Hut pan pizza.

 

As for the original post:

1. Pizza Hut (only because of their breadsticks with cheese, not their pizza)

2. Little Caesars (personal pan only)

3. Papa Johns (not much flavor)

4. Dominos (not a fan of the sauce)

 

I've only had Papa Murphy's once, and I don't really recall much about it.

Papa Murphys, have had more consistent quality there, I prefer the ref crust, while my parents prefer the thinner NY style and my brother likes their stuffed crust. If you haven't had it, go on Tuesday and get a large for $10 whatever crust or toppings you want. Their $5 fave pizzas aren't quite as good a thinner crust with less toppings, cheese.

I still get Little Caesars occasionally out of convenience but they never fail to disappoint, they always seem to be all crust and never enough sauce or cheese.

 

Papa Johns, and Dominoes are not horrible but inconsistent and just don't seem to be as good as they once were years ago.

 

I used to like Pizza Hut when they were a sit down restaurant and didn't really deliver or feature delivery business, was a little more expensive but better quality when they moved to delivery model and lowered prices quality suffered.

 

The biggest problem with all of these is inconsistency, don't know if it lazy employees or bad management / franchise owners but quality really varies.

 

Even with Papa Murphys I have found that in Louisville there were different franchise owners and some owners seem to have a better handle on their business than others, I think the one owner whose stores were poorer run has shut down all of their locations. The former location at Bardstown Rd and Hikes Ln was a good example of that, I worked nearby and would stop there on the way home several times a month. If I got the owner or one of his family members working making my pizza the quality was always great, but if you got the assistant manager or one of her cronies and the owner wasn't there quality suffered and I would just leave if one that crew was working and not order. eventually that location closed

My thoughts exactly. Many NKY people talk like it's the second coming of sliced bread. Like you, I think it's ok...there is worse, and there's much better. Don't get me wrong. i'm not saying it's bad, but I have never gotten the huge accolades some give it.

 

With that, I also don't get the "loathing" some have for Papa Johns. It's not a 5 star meal by any stretch, but for a delivery pie it's perfectly fine and better than most.

I'm currently learning to like Domino's.

 

But if I had to put a meal together after scrolling through BGP for a couple minutes it would go: Pizza Hut's stuffed crust with extra cheese, cinnamon twists from Taco Bell, and a large Coke from McDonald's.

Not to thread jack but NKY people have the best food around, goetta, Larosas, skyline goldstar etc.. I know there are some of the chili places I mentioned further south but they don't taste the same as they do up here.

Agreed on Jet's. I'd also rate Marco's higher than any others on the original list.

I'm a little upset over the Snappy snub. I'd take them over any of those listed other than Pap Murphy's.
