If JC played any of the 3 teams ahead of them on this poll, they would beat them. And no, I'm not being biased, that is the truth.

it is what it is.

(What is this world coming to when I am actually arguing in favor of Highlands and CCH . . . . . .)

Welcome to the dark side my friend:D

Dude, I'm a Paintsville fan, but please, JC beating Highlands??? You aren't helping your cause any at all by saying stuff like that.

For once I agree with you.

If JC played any of the 3 teams ahead of them on this poll, they would beat them. And no, I'm not being biased, that is the truth.

You should probably worry about Bell Co., Rockcastle Co, Clay Co., etc. before you go worrying about the two teams in NKY and the Purple team out West. Those teams (or 2 of the 3 of them) will be waiting for you if you get past the others I listed first.

Like many others have mentioned, I'm thrilled that Johnson Central is having a nice season and has high aspirations for the post-season. However, as has also been referenced, the complete lack of competition on your schedule to date leaves EVERYONE wondering just how good JC is and / or can be. The nice thing is, over the next 6 weeks, you'll get plenty of chances on the field to show us.

No, it doesn't. The statement you are referring to was in reference to power ratings. This is the AP poll, which is voted on by media people.

:thumb: You are correct.

I like JC, but no way they are better than the 3 teams above them...

Until they were able to beat one of them, I would have to agree with you!

Still lov'n though Eagles!

It is an honor to be one of the first to call "nonsense" on that statement.

If Dale or John wouldn't be nice by calling off the dogs--Highlands or CCH would beat Johnson Central by a 100 if they wanted to.

Sorry . . . . . . . but it is the truth.

That doesn't mean that Johnson Central isn't a very good football team--but Highlands and CCH are on a different level.

Based on the number of key players returning from last season, there is no reason to believe that Rockcastle County and Bell County would not be competitive with either CovCath or Highlands if they meet in the playoffs. IF JC wins its region, neither the Colonels nor the Bluebirds will need to call off the dogs to avoid hitting the century mark.

JC's 2000 team was good enough to split with 4A semi-finalist Tates Creek - spoiling the Commodores' Homecoming before losing in the first round of the playoffs. By all indications, this Golden Eagle team is better than the 2000 team because of its greater depth. JC has been winning by big margins while playing without some key players.

While it is , IMO, to say that Johnson Central would beat any of the teams ranked ahead of them, it is equally ludicrous to assume that any of those teams is capable of scoring 100 points on them in Paintsville or that JC is incapable of upsetting those teams at home. If Johnson Central is fortunate enough to get by Ashland, Rockcastle, and Bell and has an opportunity to play Covington Catholic or Highlands at full strength, they should at least be competitive.

I know that there are a lot of "if's" in this post, but every team that has ever one its first state title enjoyed a breakthrough season where all of the pieces fell into place. This may or may not be that season for the Golden Eagles, but anybody who really believes that any 3A team is 100 points better than Johnson Central may be in for a rude awakening.

Does anyone know the website for the AP poll.... being a lincoln co. fan means looking at the extended list , lol... :sssh:

I know this really isn't that big of a deal...but, it was not the first round of the playoffs...it was the second.

Thanks. I stand corrected. JC beat GRC 35-7 before falling to Tates Creek in the second round.

I found it on http://www.wymtnews.com website and then go into sports overtime.

It is listed there.

I think the extended had Lincoln County 20 in 4A. Great job this year and good luck down the road.

Remember the year that Lawrence County killed everyone around here and played Highlands for the right to play in the title game. The score was like 70-45 or something. Now I don't know if Highlands is as good as that team or if Central is as good as L.C. was that year. But we had better give Highlands all the respect in the world!

I just had to get into this NKY vs. JC discussion because you guys sound so silly. I have read this board for the last few years and never post but I could not pass this one up. I live in NKY for over 10 years but went to Rockcastle Co.

First to the overzealous JC fans. Just because you have a good team and start winning each season doesn't make you great. It also doesn't mean you are automatically going to gain respect for just having a winning season or two. Use the Rock as an example, I kept stats for the Rock during Larkey's first year. The program started turning around and now they have had around 20 winning seasons in a row. Time makes greatness and earns respect. People in NKY take the Rock seriously now but it has only been in the last few years that they have earned that respect. Absurd statements promising three wins against the 3 top rated programs in the state makes you look silly. Remember David only killed one Goliath not three.

Now for the NKY few that promised 100 point victories, you sound about as silly. First of all there is a mercy rule that makes it nearly impossible to score 100 points much less win by 100. Secondly I remember a few years back Highlands handing the Rock a large loss and you guys calling them over rated and not at the same level as NKY football. The next year the Rock came to NKY and beat CCH on their own field and then the next year giving Highlands the largest lose in their storied playoff history. Greatness is achieved over time, but times do change. JC has a right to be happy with their new found success but great programs let their play do their talking.

As for the bets I will take both your bets cause JC cannot beat all 3 teams and Highlands and CCS could not both beat JC by 100 points. Not to mention the fact that the Rock, Bell, and Lexington Catholic have spoiled both NKY and JC's fun several times over the last few years. That is what makes HS football so great.

In Class A, Holy Cross has lost 2 consecutive weeks and remains in the 4 slot. Bethlehem is undefeated and has beaten Holy Cross, and remains unranked.

That doesn't surprise me...The pollsters have always been fond of Holy Cross, for whatever reason.

While it is , IMO, to say that Johnson Central would beat any of the teams ranked ahead of them, it is equally ludicrous to assume that any of those teams is capable of scoring 100 points on them in Paintsville or that JC is incapable of upsetting those teams at home.
