Are you being serious? I am all for this area getting recognition in the polls but do you honestly feel that JC could be Bowling Green, or any of those teams for that matter?

Hey, I believe JC or Ashland have enough talent to stay within 3 tds of anyone in top 3...Whether or not they get that shot is yet to be seen..

I've seen both Highlands and Johnson Central. I haven't seen BG this year, but did last year and know what they had coming back for this year.

 

The way I see it — and I have no personal biases toward or against any team in the state — CovCath, HHS and BG are a cut above the next tier of teams (JC, Franklin, LexCath, Central, etc.) by 10-14 points.

 

JC is a good team, a legit 4 through 7 team, with excellent depth, size and speed. But the 3A Big 3 are a cut above.

I totally agree. A couple days ago I merely called the guy at the other extreme...that Covington Cath or Highlands would beat Johnson Central by 100 if they wanted. That's just as crazy. Central has a long way to go. If They are fortunate enough to win the district then win their first 2 playoff games at home, then they'll host probably Bell or Rock. If they're fortunate enough to win that one, they'll probably host Highlands or Covington Cath. 100-point win? Hopefully we'll find out.

I never said you stated it either, matter of fact I used your statement as a quote, so you should be easily able to see you didn't state that Ashland could beat those three... but I was stating MY opinion that neither could do it, I hope they prove me wrong but I'm doubtful.

In other words, the Colonels would be a solid favorite to beat the Golden Eagles, but not a prohibitive one. Every computer ranking system that I have seen has JC somewhere in the top 10, as does every poll.

...First to the overzealous JC fans. Just because you have a good team and start winning each season doesn't make you great. It also doesn't mean you are automatically going to gain respect for just having a winning season or two. Use the Rock as an example, I kept stats for the Rock during Larkey's first year. The program started turning around and now they have had around 20 winning seasons in a row. Time makes greatness and earns respect. People in NKY take the Rock seriously now but it has only been in the last few years that they have earned that respect. Absurd statements promising three wins against the 3 top rated programs in the state makes you look silly. Remember David only killed one Goliath not three.

 

Now for the NKY few that promised 100 point victories, you sound about as silly. First of all there is a mercy rule that makes it nearly impossible to score 100 points much less win by 100. Secondly I remember a few years back Highlands handing the Rock a large loss and you guys calling them over rated and not at the same level as NKY football. The next year the Rock came to NKY and beat CCH on their own field and then the next year giving Highlands the largest lose in their storied playoff history. Greatness is achieved over time, but times do change. JC has a right to be happy with their new found success but great programs let their play do their talking.

 

As for the bets I will take both your bets cause JC cannot beat all 3 teams and Highlands and CCS could not both beat JC by 100 points. Not to mention the fact that the Rock, Bell, and Lexington Catholic have spoiled both NKY and JC's fun several times over the last few years. That is what makes HS football so great.

For what it's worth, Highlands or Bowling Green could IMO (after playing them both along with Lexington Catholic 2 years in a row), beat many good 4A teams including some top 20, if not on occasion a top 10 4A team. Just one man's opinion. I would love to watch Johnson Central play however.

No, we lost everybody. This year Bardstown has put all new bullets in the gun, which makes the success a little more surprising to us.

I know Barstown lost some seniors last year...but I am seeing all too familiar names that I called last year in the semi-state game making noise again this year for the B'town team. None the less the success B'town has had has been very impressive and the folks down here in western Kentucky know what is going on up in Bardstown as well as a team that plays not too far away from you.

 

Hearsay...good luck to you guys the rest of the season...should be another fun year of playoffs in Class A

Bardstown's the type of program that doesn't rebuild, they reload..Last year they had some of the quickest skilled players I've seen in long time, but, were a little smallish in the lines and that hurt them..I do know alot of that same line is back, but, they lost several of those skilled kids, so, if they can fill those shoes, they have the potential to be better than last year, cause usually at the HS level, games are won in the trenches...
