I just had to get into this NKY vs. JC discussion because you guys sound so silly. I have read this board for the last few years and never post but I could not pass this one up. I live in NKY for over 10 years but went to Rockcastle Co.

First to the overzealous JC fans. Just because you have a good team and start winning each season doesn't make you great. It also doesn't mean you are automatically going to gain respect for just having a winning season or two. Use the Rock as an example, I kept stats for the Rock during Larkey's first year. The program started turning around and now they have had around 20 winning seasons in a row. Time makes greatness and earns respect. People in NKY take the Rock seriously now but it has only been in the last few years that they have earned that respect. Absurd statements promising three wins against the 3 top rated programs in the state makes you look silly. Remember David only killed one Goliath not three.

Now for the NKY few that promised 100 point victories, you sound about as silly. First of all there is a mercy rule that makes it nearly impossible to score 100 points much less win by 100. Secondly I remember a few years back Highlands handing the Rock a large loss and you guys calling them over rated and not at the same level as NKY football. The next year the Rock came to NKY and beat CCH on their own field and then the next year giving Highlands the largest lose in their storied playoff history. Greatness is achieved over time, but times do change. JC has a right to be happy with their new found success but great programs let their play do their talking.

As for the bets I will take both your bets cause JC cannot beat all 3 teams and Highlands and CCS could not both beat JC by 100 points. Not to mention the fact that the Rock, Bell, and Lexington Catholic have spoiled both NKY and JC's fun several times over the last few years. That is what makes HS football so great.

I think there was only one post that referenced the 100 pt spread. I believe his intention was more along the lines of Highlands and CCH could name the score. But he is quite capable of speaking for himself.

Who has JC played that would lead you to believe that they can compete with the Top 3? I believe they've only played one team that has a winning record. I don't know about South Point or Logan, but their KY opponents haven't exactly been cream of the crop opponents that can give a good measuring stick on where they are talent wise.

As an Eagle fan myself, I am reserving judgement on how good we are and how good we can be until after Ashland visits Eagle Field next month.

But hey, if we have to play every game, might as well think we can win every game, right?

3A

1. Bowling Green

2. Highlands

3. Cov. Catholic

4. Johnson Central

5. Lou. Central

6. Lex. Catholic

7. Bell Co.

8. Franklin Co.

9. Warren East

10. Clay Co.

Johnson Central might be in the top 2 before the season is out in every poll.

I agree with that.:thumb:

I am glad to see Raceland moving back up in the class "A" poll. I think that it was in this poll that the Rams were #4 before the loss to LCA and fell to #8 or #10 afterwards, not sure. Good to see my Rams back at #7 and going in the right direction anyway. Again, any of these polls doesn't really mean a lot, just something for all of us over the hill has beens to toss around and talk about.

These two are jokes this week. Undefeated or no, Marshall County at #7 after their performance against Greenwood, and Apollo at #10 after their LAST SECOND win over Daviess County is a joke.

Any team that can't beat Daviess Co by at least 3 TD's doesn't deserve to be in the top 15 much less the top ten. Apollo at ten pretty much proves the fact that the AP poll should be printed on a roll and placed next to the toilet. Because that is about all it is good for.

My point was not about whether or not JC could compete with the top 3 at this point, it was that you don't promise victories over the three top ranked teams in the state when you haven't even beat any top ranked teams at this point.

IMO JC will have to go thru a tuff playoff schedule and there is a good chance that they will not even get that far. The Rock and Bell will be much tougher and better in November and they cannot be overlooked.

As a Rockcastle fan living in NKY, I have experienced the hype of NKY football. My only point to the NKY fans was sometimes you are better off just not responding to overzealous comments. As an objective outsider looking in, it sounded like a bunch of little kids squabbling. It was very entertaining.

Sometimes that's what makes this board so much fun.:D

If you will reread my post, you will see that the point that I made is not that JC would give those three a good game. My point is that if JC is good enough to win its region, then it will be good enough to give any team in the state a competitive game.

If JC does advance to meet Covington Catholic or Highlands, I am pretty sure that I will be reading posts claiming that the ony reason the Golden Eagles won the region was that Bell and Rockcastle were "down" this season. I really expected Rockcastle and Bell to be top 5 teams this season, but both have stumbled past teams that IMO, JC would have breezed past. JC has exceeded my expectations so far, but I agree that we will not know how far the program has come until playoff time.

I am so glad my opinion matters so much to everybody in northern KY.

It doesn't. You're entitled and we're more than happy to read your posts, but in the end, the N.KY. schools usually have the last say so...

I didn't believe Johnson Central was a top-10 team last season, and argued as such. In the end, I believe I was right about that.

This season, I think the Eagles are a top-10 team, but I think they are definitely somewhere in the 6-10 range ... certainly not in the top 5.

Frankly, it's the schedule that gives so many of us pause. Johnson Central's six wins are against teams that have a 9-23 record ... take away their losses to JC, and they're still 9-17.

Only one of the opponents (North Laurel) has a winning record. Their two out-of-state opponents are each 1-4. If you take the Massey power rating of Logan (WV) and South Point (OH), they are not comparable to any state powers.

Logan's rating is in the neighborhood of Christian Academy of Louisville and Russellville. South Point's rating is in the neighborhoord of Iroquois, Barren County and Kentucky Country Day.

Beat somebody good and then start making crazy statements, is that what you're saying?:D

If JC played any of the 3 teams ahead of them on this poll, they would beat them. And no, I'm not being biased, that is the truth.

That's just about the boldest statement I've read:D

I, for one would like to see JC play those teams. It would be very interesting.

Succinctly.

But you also have to present some facts to make your case ... of course, it didn't work last year, either. ;)

What bothers be them most on this thread is that 99% of JC fans realize that they are no where near a program as Highlands, Cov Cath, and Bowling Green but you get one fan on here that is in the minority of the group who posts something stupid and all of you act like it's Johnson Central's fan base as a whole that believes this. I can guarantee you that the majority of Central's fan base cringe when people like the poster above, who made the ludicrous comment types anything on here. Am I happy how JC is playing? Yes I am. Do I think that they are a top five team in 3A? No I don't. That's why I hate preseason and regular season polls because there worthless. The final standings is the only thing that's worth a darn. So please people just because one member on here says that Johnson Central is in the same class as Highlands,Covington Catholic, and Bowling Green don't think that the entire community and fan base thinks this way. Xyience please use better judgment when you post because when you don't, you get nothing but grief and Johnson Central usually gets a black eye out of it. I hated that I had to post on this subject but something had to be said.
