In all honesty, if this is a direct quote from him (and not something that's just hearsay), all three property site owners/controllers should tell him to go pound salt. My recommendation is get that information about Berding saying that confirmed from another source before passing judgement.
March 28, 20188 yr The only site they have truly had their eyes set on the entire time is Newport. The rest has been a dog and pony show to make it look like they wanted it in Cincinnati... Any idea why they have set their eyes on Newport?

My understanding is if FCC doesn't get MLS, they are not building a stadium to start with.

The award of an MLS franchise has to come before Berding will build a stadium. Three options here: 1) MLS award, new stadium 2) No MLS award, no new stadium, USL play 3) No MLS award, no new stadium, franchise closed

March 29, 20188 yr Word is that Berding has said if FCC doesnt get MLS Status, he doesnt want to be apart of FCC anymore and will just close the franchise down. I don't think that's true. Sounds like fear-mongering or rumors from people unhappy with Berding. There will absolutely be a scale-back if they don't get the MLS bid. They will work with a roster, support staff, and payroll closer to what other USL teams work with. But there's also another round of expansion if Cincy can't figure out the stadium and gets passed by Sacramento. That would give Cincy another year to figure out the West End site. I don't think the franchise would ever "close up shop" at this point, though. They would keep playing in Nippert and wait for the day in the not-so-distant future where the USL can challenge MLS, or when there is promotion/relegation.

The words came directly out of Berdings mouth so its true. Also now there are reports that the west end community council has told FCC that the only way they will approve the west end deal is if they pay their "bribes". I hope Newport is watching and realizing that letting FCC build in Newport will be a disaster and create huge hardships for the city.

April 6, 20188 yr Councilman PG Sittenfield is holding a press conference right now. It appears the West End, CPS, and FCC have come to an agreement for the stadium to be in the West End. Didn't hear everything, but it sounds like $25MM going to CPS from FCC. Also sounds like FCC will be responsible for 100% of property taxes on the developments, with no property tax burden being passed to the residents. Another $15MM from FCC will be invested in residential developments around the stadium site.
