I don't think he's being hypocritical and I don't think his outrage is fake. Neither is mine. I say a special prosecutor is needed and whoever has engaged in wrongdoing should be prosecuted.

 

I want anyone who has broken the law prosecuted as well.

I think most most of the outrage from the Left is fake. It was ok for Hillary to break the law, and there was proof. Investigation isn't even complete and you guys are ready to hang President Trump for firing a guy he had every right to.

So we have a POTUS who in 100+ days has shown a pattern of misstating (being kind) facts yet we are saying "no way" he would misstate what Comey said to him? No way he would have "happy ears" and hear what he wanted to hear? Comey seems buttoned up to me so I doubt we'll hear him confirm or deny POTUS comments about what he supposedly said to POTUS. But to say "no way would he....?" Come on, man.

 

I am sure Comey will cash in on a big time book deal over this!

Trump had every right to fire Comey and he did so within his rights.

 

IMO a special prosecutor is needed because one thing everyone harps on is how the FBI is politicized. Even acting director McCabe has questionable ties to the Clintons that has him under investigation. If anything a special prosecutor shouldn't be politicized and appears to be a fair resolution. And again, IMO a special prosecutor is needed for Hillary and whatever this ongoing investigation into counter intelligence is.

Gotcha. I read your post as Comey himself calling the NYT this week.

 

I, however, do not consider telling a colleague about something as odd as POTUS inviting you to dinner to ask for your loyalty to him being a conventional "leak." I can't imagine someone actually keeping something like that to themselves.

Key issues that warrant response (and haven't been addressed in my review of the past 16 pages):

 

Who believes Huckabee's daughter that she has been contacted by "countless" FBI agents expressing relief that Comey was dismissed?

 

Who believes Acting FBI Director McCabe's sworn testimony that Comey did / still does command widespread respect within the FBI?

 

One of the above is lying.

Who is concerned by the administration's changing story about why Comey was fired and when that decision was made. Prior to the Trump interview with Lester Holt, Spicer, Sanders & even Pence made clear statements that Trump acted upon the recommendation of DAG and fired Comey. When that story began to fall apart (at least in part due to sourced reporting that DAG was not happy about being the scapegoat & sourced reporting showing Trump asked for the recommendation), Trump went 180 degrees and told Holt he had been planning to fire Comey for a long time.

 

While we all should agree that Trump had the RIGHT to fire Comey, we are discussing the wisdom of doing so. Also, although Trump is not obligated to provide a reason for firing Comey, can we all agree that if he DOES give a reason, the reason given should be the truth and not a lie?

 

My guess is Comey is smart enough to have documented a bunch of this. Now that he has been fired, I'm guessing he will publicly take as high a road as he can while still telling the truth (particularly when under oath). However, behind the scenes I am betting he will be providing very juicy information & documentation to reporters anxious to chop Trump down. The "loyalty demand dinner" is just the 1st of many such leaks that will threaten whatever credibility Trump may still have. Making an enemy of a former FBI Director when the MSM is frothing at the mouth to bring you down may not have been the wisest decision.
