Cons: Only 1 MVP award, no one really has any idea as to the level of competition. Willie Mays: Pros: 7th all-time Rs, 11th all-time in Hs, 5th all-time in HRs, 10th all-time in RBI, 300+ SBs, 2 MVPs, ROY, 11 straight GGs Cons: hung around too long, barely stayed over .300 career AVG, not an elite OBP (when look at GOAT).

May 9, 20179 yr For me it would be Willie Mays and a healthy Mickey Mantel would be close. I never saw Ted Williams , but probably be the best hitter of all times.
May 9, 20179 yr I don't even see this as much of a discussion. It is George Herman Ruth and it's not even close. Please feel free to continue the discussion to decide who is second. I agree. Nobody dominated in baseball history like Ruth. When he retired with 714 home runs the next guy on the list had something like 200 or 300. I am going off memory so I could be wrong but he was VERY FAR ahead of the next guy. He is the only player in history that could have easily gone to the HOF as a hitter or pitcher if the Yankees decided to keep him at pitcher.
