You are offered a job where you could make $30,000 per week, with 4 weeks of vacation, but the job is that you sit in a pitch black room all by yourself for 8 hours a day (no computer, no cell phone, etc.).

If I can sleep it's a different story. I don't think anyone could last over a year without doing serious damage to your mental health. Probably much less than a year.

I will take the job, however, I don't know how long I would be able to keep the job because I wouldn't want money to interfere with my happiness and I have a strong feeling that eventually most of would suffer some type of negative mental consequences.

Exactly! I go there, get my sleep in and then stay awake the other 16 hours doing stuff I want to do. I could keep that job a long time. In fact, that is sounding like the best job in the world.

Ok. That makes it very different and gets to the point of the question.

 

I will have to think about what I could do to maintain sanity. If nothing else, I follow UKMF's lead - use all my vacation from my current job and work 4 weeks. Then take their 4 weeks of vacation. Then quit. If I could, I would alternate my vacation weeks so I would not have two weeks in a row of "working" in the dark. That would be a nice $240,000 bankroll.
