I actually thought the officiating was pretty poor. Not helping one team or the other, but poor overall. One ref in particular.

 

Great game, evenly matched teams. The team with the best player won, and he made a whale of a shot to win the game. Coach Fro may be my new favorite coach. I have always liked and respected him. Even more now.

 

Eh, all things considered, it was pretty solid.

That might be the most uninspiring call of a 3pt buzzer beater I have ever heard in my life. Sorry but that was lame.

 

THEres not many better than Danny, but this wasn't his best. In his defense, his seat would have been a nearly impossible angle to see what was happening in that corner.

Not doubting Danny isnt one of the best, I know he is a 10th Region mainstay but I just felt a lack of excitement. Not that you have to act like Dick Vitale but come on. That might have been the most exciting 10th Region ending EVER.

Also, Pi wasn't lying. Where Danny was seated right next to the Campbell bench almost, the shot by Ohmer was down to his right in the corner by Scott bench. With everyone standing on bench, etc., likely he only saw the ball go up at last millisecond.

We at the score table could not see that corner. I had no idea who shot the ball until I saw Jake run out of that corner. So I am sure Danny did not see it, either.

Congrats to the Scott Eagles and especially Coach Fro! One heck of a job in his first campaign as a varsity coach. Big congrats to former NKY TarHeels (AAU) Jake Ohmer, Nelson Perrin, and Jacob Pouncy for making it to the Sweet 16! They will join fellow former teammates Dante' Hendrix, Sean McNeil and Chris McNeil in Lexington. Best of luck representing Northern Kentucky!

Then it may be time to step aside and let someone else at the mic if that's how you announce one of the best finishes in Region 10 history.

He could see everything. Listen to it again, he called every players name who touched the ball as they touched it and called Ohmer's shot as soon as he shot it. Don't make an excuse he couldn't see when you know very well he could see if you listened to the call.

Have no problem with the way Danny delivered the final action of the game. He is one of the best play by play guys across the state, and he was doing his job. He left me after listening to it as if I was there following every move. He gave the listeners the exact details of the final play from ball action, to shot that missed, to Ohmer getting the looose ball to him shooting the last shot. He did his job! Broadcasters are not suppose to steal the moment from the kids and what is happening in celebration, they are suppose to give you what happens on the floor. That he did folks!

Agree 100% that he did exactly as you explained. It wasn't anything special and kind of blah. There were people trying to make it out to be a great call, and it simply wasn't is all.
