February 22, 20179 yr It was a 10-point conference road win. Missouri is a bad team but they are competitive at home.Did Kentucky play well or not? Did they play well against Georgia, considering that Georgia was playing without their best player? Yes or no? The SEC is down this year. Yes, it is tougher to win road games than home games, but there are no home games when the NCAA tournament begins. At this time of the season, a team with Kentucky's talent should be running teams like Missouri off the court, regardless of where the game is played.

Winning a true road game is much tougher than winning a neutral court game. Especially considering most neutral site games are like home games with how the fans travel. The 2011 and 2014 teams looked a lot worst in games and on the road and lost a lot more games in these situations that they shouldn't have lost. Yet once they got to neutral site games in the tournament they obviously were fine and beat many top teams in the tournament in both 2011 and 2014. At the end of the day Cal has his team's playing their best come tournament time.

By the same token, though, isn't it fair to question all the complaining about UK's seed in the NCAA tourney when they get nicked for not getting the job done on the road in conference against teams they have boatloads more talent than? As I've long said on this board, play a few more road games in the non-conference season and those trips to Athens and Knoxville and Gainesville won't be such a shock to the system for a team full of freshmen every year. Maybe one more road loss in non-conference in November and December translates to an undefeated conference schedule in January and February, and better seeds in the tournament. Maybe they get those road jitters out of the way in November and December where it doesn't hurt as much in terms of NCAA seeding. Then there would be no need for the annual late-January/early-February panic by BBN, and no need for Cal's annual "tweak."

The 2014 complaint was more the region, which was loaded. UL is the one who got the short straw for how it got seeded it 2014. They should have been better than a 4 seed. Now last year people complained about the seed and rightfully so. Uk was hot going into the tournament and just won the sec tournament and beat a top 15 team in Texas AM and yet Texas AM got a 3 seed and UK a 4. So last year was complaints on the seed. The majority of the time is complaints on how hard the region is.
February 22, 20179 yr I didnt even watch the last ten minutes. Missouri played and executed like they had nothing to lose and didnt care if it caused them lose by 100 or maybe actually pull off the upset. Kentucky just stood there and accepted it for most the night. One question. Whats Cal doing getting Teed up in a four point game that at that particular time could have still gone either way? If he was trying to fire up his guys do it in the first half. He knows two of the three officials dont like him and are there more for themselves than the players.
February 22, 20179 yr Baylor beat 9 win Oklahoma in Waco by 6 last night. Purdue needed overtime to get by awful Penn State on the road. Arizona struggled to an 8 point win at 9 win Washington on Saturday. Point is, every week you're going to find games that are closer than most think they should be. Getting the W is all that matters. This team is starting to figure some things out defensively IMO. Anytime you can get a double digit road win, you take it and don't look back.

I think the same thing. And I don't mean another road game at a big school like Duke or Syracuse or Arizona. I think they would benefit from a December road game at a Wake Forest/Minnesota/Colorado type place. A game that isn't necessarily bright lights, but it gives you a better idea of what conference play will look like.
February 22, 20179 yr Your post sounded a lot like the one that I made, which you disliked. Great win tonight, huh? UK is playing poorly and it just took you one more game than it took me to reach that conclusion. :lol2: Missouri is terrible.
February 22, 20179 yr Team just doesn't have it, it's a team built for lobs and highlight plays. Not designed for grit and toughness.

Whatever happened to UK's fast break offense? Earlier this season they were running the ball down peoples' throats. Now, you hardly see any run-outs.

Teams aren't sending as many guys to the offensive glass and are getting back way better. Heck, teams like UGA don't even put guys on the foul line while their shooting sometimes.
