February 13, 20179 yr His numbers dropped because he had two very serious injuries that slowed him down. He was injured in 2014 vs the Eagles early in the season. Missed the rest of that season with a torn patellar tendon. He missed all of 2015 with a torn calf muscle. He finally played in 2016, but wasn't nearly as effective as he used to be. Part of that was because the Giants put him on the outside. I think if a team needed a good slot WR, Cruz might do okay. He will never be the same as he once was though IMO.

February 14, 20179 yr No the Bengals shouldn't look at him at all. You think so? The first thing I thought when I heard he was cut was if the Bengals can get him cheap he would be a fantastic guy to bring in.
February 14, 20179 yr He was phenomenal in 2011 posting 82-1536-18.7-9. He was good the next two years as well, but not as good. He was doing well in 2014 but got injured and only played in 14 games. He's not the same player. I think he can still play decent football but he'll never be 2011 Victor Cruz again.

I hope he finds a team and some success. Not sure I grab him if I'm the Bengals unless he comes cheap, but I'm sure some team will be willing to overpay.

February 14, 20179 yr The Giants have had tough luck with injuries to young wide receivers. Steve Smith got injured after a 100 catch season. His career looker promising. He was one of those guys who could get open on 3rd down consistently. Suffered what was basically a career ending knee injury before he's done with his first contract. Mario Manningham was not a game breaker but a solid young WR. Suffers a few injuries, career over. (He did leave for more money elsewhere first though) Hakeem Nicks - dominated in the Giants 2012 super bowl run. Looked like a super star. Injuries ruined his career. Now Victor Cruz. Hope this trend doesn't continue!
February 14, 20179 yr This is exactly what the Bengals don't need, so by all means, go get him.I really don't see a problem with the Bengals picking him up cheap. If he just can't do it anymore you cut him in camp. If he can play you have another veteran wideout on the team that you aren't paying very much. Does Cruz have some off the field problem that I'm forgetting about?
