I guess it depends on the location and size then. I picture a dude with a giant gaudy tat on his neck when I think of the OP. When I see those, I assume the worst. Just being honest. I'm sure if I saw a subtle tat on the back of a woman's neck I'd never think twice about it.

In addition to why, I usually jump to thinking low IQ.

 

If I started talking to the person and found them to be smart, confident and self motivated, I would still walk away with doubts about them. That obvious neck tat says to me that something is off kilter for that person.

I was a Dixie Chili once and the guy doing the soft drinks had a neck tat with a girls name on it (I can't remember what it was now). I looked at him and pointed at his tat and asked, "you still with her"? He shook his head no. I slid my tray on down the line to pick up my food and said bummer. I didn't crack a smile on the outside, but I was laughing on the inside.

I liken this to a stud ring of the nose. I think nothing of it. Someone with a doughnut size loop dangling from their nose it makes me take notice.

Saw a tough looking guy today walking down the street with prison tats on his face looking like he was on his way to go hurt somebody. Just for kicks I tried to say a quick "Hey man how's it going?" in passing just to see his reaction and if I was prejudging him, but nothing broke him from the incensed deranged look on his face, nor did it appear that he was even aware that I was there. Dude was on a mission it seemed, and I wish for whoever he might've been on the way to see a ton of good luck.

 

 

I suppose that when I see people with neck tats I'll be quick to prejudge, and often my reaction would be to think "stupid", or "trash", and ordinarily just both.

 

I'm sure he didn't mean to be rude, probably just running late for a job interview.
