Anyone playing in the NKY Amatuer this year at Traditions?

I keep hearing that some of the Ky.State Parks golf courses are closed or will be closed. Any one have any information on this? I play at Kincade or General Butler once in a while and would like to know the status of both.

Butler is closed...Kincade is supposed to close but not sure if it has yet.

I won our weekly Shootout at our course yesterday. Only 6 showed up to play so it was only 5 holes. I went par, par, birdie, par, and finished birdie on the 5th hole with a 30 foot putt. My second club shootout win this year, and $50 richer afterwards :woot:

My driver woes continue. Another summer without breaking 80 yet. Walked 9 last night...another 42 which is becoming common place. I just can't get in position off the tee. Not only usually fairly short, but short AND crooked. I should on average be hitting the ball 25 yards further than I do off the tee. I think I am going to break down and go get a lesson or two, just focusing on hitting driver. What I'm doing isn't working.

Was 4 over after 5 holes last night at Fox run. That's pretty good for me. Finished up with a double and 3 triples. That's pretty normal for me.

Golf league concluded last night. Shot a net 29 and ended up winning $50 for winning my division. The worse golfer in the league won the hardware last night. Final evening format was the 4 winners thru tournament play going at it for low net. Every other week is match play with a point per hole. Tough for a big handicap not to throw out a huge number on a hole. All past league winners drink from the crystal cup that stays with the champ. I've been in the league 16 of the 20'something years and have never drank from it.

Played for the first time this year in a scramble at Boone Links last week. I hit the driving range a few days before to "re-acquaint" myself.

We used 6 of my drives, and 3 of my approaches. I couldn't sink a birdie putt to save my life. :lol2: I was in good company though...my teammates suffered from the same no-putt-itis as well. We finished at "EVEN." If the putts had sank we figured we would've finished conservatively -7. More importantly we had a lot of fun and got a good work out in!

The winners were -11. Boone Links greens are very forgiving and there's not a lot of wavy gravy to find the hole. Based on the scramble thread I saw earlier this month some of you guys would be -20...:thumb:

Hit em straight and have fun folks. I'm hoping to get another round in before football season kicks into full swing!

Saw a guy blade a wedge on 18 at Nevel last week that airmailed the green, hit the pavement behind the clubhouse and one hopped and hit the door. Kinda funny. Thankfully it wasn't me. We were coming off 9 and were only 60sec from being in harms way.

It coulda' been me, but I wasn't there. I have struggled some blading wedges and 8-9 irons this year. Usually, once a round, sometimes more. Almost is never good unless it is low and hits the bunker and pops up to the green. That rarely happens, though.

Has anyone played at Rising Star Casino? My buddy has a free round there and we are planning on heading that way this weekend for a round. Just curious if its a nice course or not.

One of my favorite tracks. Links style, nice greens, wide landing areas and challenging green complexes. #3 is a par 5 that is one of the toughest holes in the Cincy area.

Have a ball.

Forgot to post...won my men's league last Thursday with 35 points on the season, a couple of points ahead of 2nd place. Took home $75. Nice end to the league.

Saturday was only the fourth time out this year for me - 4-man scramble with IOOF lodge buddies. Our number 1 is approaching 60; erratic but reasonably long for his age. Me, a 74 year-old and an 80 year-old who did sink a par putt for us. Had this team for the past 3 years. -7, -7, but only -5 this time around.
