Barker only had 30/30 or 40/40. And Walker Wood is better qb than Barker more speed. Wood is a winner back to back 6A state finals. When Barker played for Conner thry barely jad a winning record.

0-2 (and beaten badly) in both games. The best QB in the state championship game this year wore a green jersey. Funny how you're all over the Lafayette bandwagon now after they knocked you all out 2 years in a row.

Folks, NEVER trust ANYTHING this guy types about Drew Barker.

Barely over .500? 24-13 as a 3-yr starter.

30/30 or 40/40? 60 TD passes/ 50 TDs rushing. 9,600 total yards of offense.

Looking at the stats, I agree that it is between those four. But the stats that are the most mind boggling belong to Jake Johnson. He obliterated the record book. Hard not to vote for him. He has 134 more career receptions than the number two receiver (James Quick). He has 630 more career yards than number two. He had 31 more receptions this year than anyone ever had in a single season. He destroyed records this year and for his career. He would get my vote.

So this answers one of my previous questions, it's a career award. Thanks for clearing that up.

So not being from KY. Can seniors only win Mr. Basketball? If that's the case why isn't Mr. Football strictly a Senior award?

When the award is "supposed" to go to the best football player yet there were players left off the list who were among the best, if not the best among their peers who did make the list does diminish the award imo.

So your excuse for leaving someone off the list who was better than some on the list in the first place is simply because he wouldn't have won? Then why have a list in the first place? That may be one of the silliest arguments ever made about any award.

I do not believe it diminishes the award. It calls into question the process/criteria. Several folks have had questions on here about the process. To me -- how did Hendrix win 6A POY over some of the finalists for Mr Football but not make the final list for Mr Football? I don't think anyone has a problem with the players on the list. They are all very, very good players who have had an outstanding year and would deserve to win it.

All awards, however, do have questions about the process/criteria they go through. And when the finalists or the winners are announced there will always be opinions about who made it and who didn't. Go through all-state teams, all-star teams, pro bowl selections, etc and there is usually some opinion piece about who should have made it. Who made the final four for the college football playoffs -- there were some different opinions on that. The people who vote have to make a decision and not everyone can be on the list. Just the way it is.

Both are limited to seniors.

Both are limited to seniors.

Actually I just learned that juniors have been nominated but never won.

As many have pointed out there is no real criteria for the award, is it a career award, is it a 1 year award/

The award once again proves to be nothing more than a popularity contest. There is no way Hendrix should not have at least made the finalist list.

The award is a joke. Once again it has less to do with how they did their senior season vs their peers but more to do with where they are going to play at the next level. Sad.

Just a question...Who would your 8 be?

That is what my entire problem with the process has been. Simply doesn't make any sense the player that wins POY for 6-A doesn't even make the list.

I will not say who shouldn't be in the list that is already on the list because I will not take anything away from those finalist named. They I'm sure are all great kids and players etc. I will give the name that I think was blatantly left off and that is Dante Hendrix.

We wont get into a debate that diminishes what any of the finalists accomplished. Not here to do that. I congratulate all that made the list. I just think their has been a big omission and was curious to why?

Both are limited to seniors.

Not true. Football is open to Juniors as well as was shown a couple years back

Barker was one of only a select few to ever make the 50/50 club in the state. Don't let facts get in your bias way though.

Why should only the 6 POY automatically make the list? Why not other classes?

Oops. Meant 6A not 5A.

Walker Wood is in the 60/60 club!

Walker Wood is in the 60/60 club!

So, what's your point? Barker was 60/50 and you couldn't wait to bash him every chance you got and said again and again he shouldn't be Mr Football. Your bias has truly affected your ability to think rationally.
