Except, from the mandate to the penalty, this is exactly what ObamaCare does.

 

When he reassured Americans more than 20 times he would not override Congress as a means to change or ignore immigration laws? "I’m not going to unilaterally rewrite immigration law." He did.

"I’m not going to unilaterally ignore immigration law." He did.

I think you know a lot more promises beyond that have been broken. Candidates say what they think will get them elected. I see Trump no differently in this area. If he tries to do the things being talked about in this thread, you all will have a point. As for now, it's much a do about nothing. Realize, it was rhetoric like what's being discussed as well as other reasons that I didn't vote for him, but I still think it was empty promises to achieve his goal.

Because for most of the Trump supporters, the alternative would have been to cast a vote for a criminal who should have been indicted. Except for those who decided to cast a protest vote, this should have been an easy decision for American voters to make. Only Trump's relatively small core voting base actually believed that he has a conservative, religiously devout, Republican candidate.

 

Nothing Trump has done since he won the election has disappointed me. He is doing better than I expected so far. Those who backed the losing candidate have also met my low expectations of them, with so many of them failing to condemn the protests and riots that have been held to protest the results of a fair, democratic (little "d") election. The reaction is what I expected, but I had hoped for better.

Some of it I don't think he really wants. A lot of it are things he just flat out couldn't do no matter how much he may want to. Gun control is one example of how things aren't so easy to change regardless of how much an administration may want to change things.

Who said you couldn't criticize? Now you're making zero sense. I think every elected official should be criticized for certain things. You are acting like the sky is falling when you know full well he can't do most of the crazy things he claimed he would. It's fear mongering, plain and simple.

The Muslim registry comment was one that concerned me regarding PE Trump. I believed at the time it was a mistake and I still believe it is. When you're talking about a registry for new immigrants entering our country that's one thing, but to single out and register American citizens based on religion would be wrong. Public sentiment will not allow this to happen.

He doesn't just spew emotional rhetoric without any research or thought out into his words. He doesn't come across condescending but he comes across earnest and well educated on whatever he issue he chooses to bless us with his intelligence with. You won't find a better human being to talk about any subject with because he displays a down to earth quality to engage in meaningful conversation like no other person on this board. Long story short, I learn a lot about people simply by watching how they respond to Habib. If you can't have a meaningful and intelligent conversation with Habib then that tells me a lot about that particular person. We already know who Habib is and he is easily a first ballot BGP Hall of Famer. When he speaks I listen and I take it to heart. We all should. Without question.

Did you believe that the candidate for whom you voted would do everything he or she promised to do while campaigning? If so, then that makes zero sense. Neither one of the major candidates was honest and trustworthy, and none of the third-party candidates had any chance to make good on their campaign promises.

 

What is idiotic is to attack the winning candidate in a presidential election when the losing candidate was so very, very bad, before he has even named his nominees for his cabinet. Elections have consequences, but apparently the consequences for a winning Republican candidate are worse than they are for a losing Democrat.

 

Democrats should spend more time soul searching what has gone wrong with their party and less time demonizing the Republican Party and its supporters. Apparently, they have not learned the lessons of the 2016 elections and don't seem to want to learn anything from them. They seem to think that if they just pander a little more to the left wing of the party, the party will stage a miraculous comeback.

 

The Democrats need to reform their own party and stop expecting the Republican Party to pursue the agenda of the losing candidates.
