How funny and self condemning is it to watch a CNN anchor talking about cracking down on fake news sites.

There's no hate behind my comment, but an observation, and not even a keen one at that, as it takes no keenness to detect where you lean. You may not have voted for him, and though you're completely free to feel as you do, your leanings are vividly evident.

 

I never claimed to lean anything but right. I think I even posted pre-election many times that Trump was a better option that Hillary but also asked people to consider voting third party or writing in. I'm breathing just fine, but you did just call me a liar on who I voted for. I'm conservative, I'm proud of that. I will always defend what I feel are conservative views. I make no apologies for that.

And...I think this is what would happen if you put a bunch of us BGP'ers in a focus group together. :lol2:

 

The way this thread has gone its probably good that any meeting in person like those in the video does not happen.

 

The focus group seemed divided into NeverHRC and NeverDJT - not unlike here. And they were angry at certain political issues - but not attacking each other personally - unlike here.

 

It seemed the most common anger of the focus group was that the system of representative government was broken. Regardless of race, sex, income, family makeup, etc. that group seemed to be saying that at the current thegovernment and the process and the candidates are not about us - the people.

 

I do not think they brought up things like the 'war on Christians' or the 'weaponized IRS' or even the always exciting 'gun control'. They were mad because regardless of your stance on these elements you probably feel either ignored or abandoned. Yet we can drop into a snippy back-and-forth on any of these items (as we see here).

 

I think this was/is an interesting video to look at during this post-election period. I am trying figure out what the root of 'the root' of the angry mood is.

So, you don't have a high opinion of me. Tell me exactly why I should care? I'm not myopic...I see things differently than you. And as you defend his satements and positions, I'm not sure how I'm "lumping" you in with his supporters. You are placing yourself squarely there. You like what he had to say. You would be happy of all he said he would do comes to pass. I'm not bashing any of you for supporting his campaign agenda. I just don't trust any of you. And if it costs me "friendships" so be it.

 

And in the end...that's what the segment and article I started this thread was about. I am as much an example as anyone.

 

I could spend my time trying to make you like me, or just accept that not all people will like me and move on. I'm not going to yell, scream, gnash my teeth for the next 4 years. It's not going to change one thing. It is just time to accept what I can't change and do what I can to make what I CAN affect, better.

Me was not buying that you don't support Trump. I wasn't saying that you lied about who you voted for.

IRS has the right to investigate any group that claims to be tax exempt yet is overly political.

 

Just like the Tea Party, right? Only they got their hand slapped over that just recently by a federal judge.

Thank you for this post. I agree with all you've said here. I am also looking for the root of the anger. I agree with Mr. Lunto that this has been growing for far longer than this election cycle. I believe he mentions the 2000 election. I don't personally remember the mood then. But in retrospect, that election has been mentioned a lot over the course of time as an example that supports a position.

I'm not losing anything. I actually am totally fine. I find it interesting that you "find it sad", how I'm taking the election. First, it assumes your expectation of me has not been met. Secondly, you are correct, if we are no longer friends, it would be my choice. But if we would not remain friends, it wouldn't be politics that caused the end of the friendship. It would be the simple realization that we have very little in common, not just politics.

 

I won't spend the next 4 years battling.

The media hasn't made one post on BGP. But plenty of posters have posted things that have made me distrustful of those who defend Mr. Trump's campaign promises. And, the same people have been posting such senriments long before Mr. Trump began his campaign.

That surely may be your mood and you have been more in touch and active with the complete process. You have to admit that a large portion of this country got its proproganda from the liberal news, from outlandish skewed polls and editorial stories instead of actual news reporting. While you may have been active most had no clue except for soundbites and repeated party slogans. That all helped in the shock affect that Trump winning had on people.

The year 2000 makes sense. Many people were angry that Gore lost the election while winning the popular vote. Nobody saw that coming and many, like today, got a lesson in civics. Taking it to the SCOTUS didn't help to ease the mood either, imo.

You're correct, you aren't meeting expectations. I expected you to act like an adult about it.

 

You can stop with the "if", you obviously don't consider me a friend. Funny how all this came about AFTER the election but you claim is isn't about politics.

 

What do we "battle" about other than politics? You've made it personal. I haven't. I can walk away knowing I didn't end any friendship because of an election. You can't say that. Well you can, but it wouldn't be true. I disagreed with many over the last 8 years politically and was mature enough to know they weren't making it personal. There are conservatives on here that disagree with me on Trump, they remain friendly with me. You have lost it over this election, you just can't see it, but others can. I hope things get better for you over these 4 years, I don't know how much more you can handle.

I am hopeful that PE Trump is nothing like Candidate Trump.

I voted for Trump. I am not a racist, xenophobe, homophobe or whatever "ist" or "phobe" the Left wants to throw out there.

 

I don't want a Muslim, or any other kind or registry. I do think we need to secure the border and deport the illegals that are criminals. As to the rest of the illegals in the country, wherever they come from, the need to get in the back of the line as far as citizenship. Doesn't matter if they have been here for 10 years, they broke the law. If I break the law, I have to face the consequences.

 

Most of those that voted for Trump, that I know, feel the same way. Please, explain to me what there is to fear from someone like me or those like me.
