Up until the past 48 hours I had not heard anything a muslim registry , in googling it to see where it came from it appears Trump was on stage giving a speech or town hall , a reporter ask him about with zero details given as he was walking off the stage , He said " yes" to the question with no details . I'd not support anything like a registry of general legal immigrants or religious groups , that's simply not American. If Trump simply meant he would have a terrorist list of those related to terrorism who happen to be 99.9 % Muslim I have no problem with that. We have plenty of real problems to discuss instead of a one sentence undefined statement about a muslim registry . That isn't going to happen.

I voted for Hilary because I couldn't stand the thought of Mr Trump as president. Mr. Trump is president, and he is tempering his messaging. I am not seeing that in those who support him, including posts on this board. So, you can parse it any way you like, and can do what you choose to diminish my thoughts. But I stand by my comments.

I really don't care what you believe. Call me a liar if you want. I did not vote for him. I voted for Evan McMullin, but go ahead and call me a liar. I will say I'm happy that Trump won rather than Hillary. By the way, pointing out hateful statements or debating someone on a differing opinion doesn't mean you voted for the person in question. Many on here didn't vote for Obama and defended him, same for Hillary, I don't call them liars. I see you're falling into that same category as RM. Sad that an election has made so many people so hateful.

Christian non-profit organizations are entitled to equal protection under the law, just as any other group or individual is in this country. The IRS has no legal authority that supersedes the constitutional rights of American citizens.

I am hopeful that PE Trump is nothing like Candidate Trump.

So, you actually believed that Hillary Clinton was going to attempt to deliver a "free" college education to every student whose parents earned less than $125,000/year and that she would "not add one penny to the debt?" If so, your faith in a crooked candidate was remarkable.

 

There's an obvious distinction between whether I think she would pursue it or accomplish it. And criticizing the wisdom or workability of a candidate's plans is also obviously legitimate (in part because that's what we expect them to try to do).

 

But, no, I would not have been gobsmacked if she pushed for some form of a free college bill and proposed raising taxes along with it.

So, you don't have a high opinion of me. Tell me exactly why I should care? I'm not myopic...I see things differently than you. And as you defend his satements and positions, I'm not sure how I'm "lumping" you in with his supporters. You are placing yourself squarely there. You like what he had to say. You would be happy of all he said he would do comes to pass. I'm not bashing any of you for supporting his campaign agenda. I just don't trust any of you. And if it costs me "friendships" so be it.

 

And in the end...that's what the segment and article I started this thread was about. I am as much an example as anyone.

 

I could spend my time trying to make you like me, or just accept that not all people will like me and move on. I'm not going to yell, scream, gnash my teeth for the next 4 years. I'd like to think not as well. But, my real life stands to be affected by what, for some, is only an ideological argument. I'm taking people at face value these days.

Raising taxes and pledging not to raise the national debt a penny are not the same thing. When Hillary Clinton promised not to raise the national debt, it was as blatant a lie as anything Trump said during the campaign. It was not a question of wisdom or workability, it was a case of a cynical candidate exploiting ignorance among her supporters.

 

I do not believe that most of Hillary's supporters believed her campaign rhetoric any more than most of Trump's supporters believed his rhetoric. Now, for some reason, those same Clinton supporters find it shocking that Trump's supporters do not expect him to do every single thing that he said he would do during the campaign. Applying that double standard is simply not a reasonable way to react to one's candidate losing an election.

There's no hate behind my comment, but an observation, and not even a keen one at that, as it takes no keenness to detect where you lean. You may not have voted for him, and though you're completely free to feel as you do, your leanings are vividly evident.
