Social Media: Did You Block Family?

I got a text from a family member last night which reinforced why I blocked him from my FB timeline.

Anyone else block family members?

I have never blocked anyone. Ever.

I got a text from a family member last night which reinforced why I blocked him from my FB timeline.

Like give an example of what was said.

I dont have facebook or any social media but I hear stuff all the time about it.

I have unfollowed some, and put them on a restricted list.

I came very close to blocking my sister (very Pro-Hillary) and my dad (very Pro-Trump).

I don't block anyone, I just move right on by their posts. What people say on FB does not bother me at all. If I think it is inappropriate, stupid, hurtful, demeaning I just move on. I do not do political posts on FB or Twitter. My wife has blocked many on FB.

Nope. Don't do the facebook thing.

Lots of annoying people on other social media platforms, but I just ignore it.

Nah. I've got a very conservative aunt who's really the only member of my family that has a very politicized social media presence, but I see no need for cutting that off. If anything, family keeps us personally connected to the folks outside our own political bubble. To me, she's the personal embodiment of the anger with Obama and Clinton and the current state of things in DC that was at the heart of what happened yesterday.

I didn't block any family, but did go through and drop some fringe friends/acquaintances that were populating my feed with ridiculous memes, and statements. Most were far right, but there were a few far lefties that got the boot too.

I've only ever blocked one person on facebook. I have unfollowed several but most of those weren't due to politics but just the fact they are idiots that post stupid crap.

That said if I push the right buttons today I could get the ax from some. I've got some friends on the edge of the cliff today and it won't take much of a spark to start that fire.

If you hid a post it would then ask if you wanted to not see any more 'repost' from a certain site (i.e. HuffPost). That worked well to clear the clutter without unfriending anyone in the family.

Same, not very many though. They weren't because of politics either. They are just annoying. I'm pretty good at just ignoring some of this nonsense.

Have blocked a few
