Only one blatant drop. Hasn't been an issue.

I blame this solely on Eddie Gran. Once you run the same play over and over the other team is going to figure out how to stop it especially down inside the red zone. Should have started throwing the ball on 1at down or at least 2ns down instead of running the wildcat up the middle playijg for the tie

 

Them throwing the ball is what lost the game. They were pounding Georgia. Wildcat was what got them to that point.

it did but once they got down inside the 10 with a new 1st down, when Georgia stopped UK with a very minimal gain, they should have started going to the air, instead of running it up the middle and trying to get in the middle of the field for a FG attempt. That's why Stoops was telling Gran to start passing it.

Just saw on MSN a link to all bowl games and their predictions through week #11 they had Kentucky playing Texas in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis on Dec. 30.

Are you a Barker would have won that game kind of guy?

It's hard to say but I lean that way. Their run game has be fantastic and that's with almost no threat of a passing game. I think if you have Barker you wouldn't have to run the wildcat so much. They could run out of traditional sets and run more play action.

I think watching from home is a good place for you haha we don't need any more bad luck! I will agree with you that the atmosphere was fantastic!

 

Yeah the atmosphere was great, no doubt about that. I'll take the blame for the loss though.

Tough loss for the Wildcats. The defense played ok, the positive was their defense finally created some turnovers, but UK turned it over to so it cancelled out.

 

The "wildcat" is a great thing, but against a good defense late in the game a different wrinkled would have been great, but can't complain that much.

 

This team is still headed in the right direction, just have to be able to be consistent for 4 quarters when playing a traditional successful SEC team.

The wildcat would be even more effective if he passed once every 10 times. Just throw it into the ground or something. But need that threat there

If Stoops and Barnhart could replicate the overall stadium environment that was their Saturday night it would be great. That was best that I could remember. Not sure if they got the sell-out but the fans did their job.

 

Things that hurt.

 

- The hold on the FG (seems to have gotten lost in discussion)

- The drop/int. Somehow the coaches have to figure out how to get receivers to go after and catch every ball like it was their only meal of the day. That is area where its definitely not SEC-level when compared with 'Bama or LSU receivers.

- Final Kentucky drive. Needed pass before 3rd down (when they knew a pass was coming). Needed to punch that in.

- 460 yards - yes. But 67 of those yards were on final drive. And the the first two chunks were quick out passes. Just two soft - especially with a really good kicker who was calmly warming up right in front of where we were during the drive.

 

Had UK won it would have been heck of party. But the disappointment led to the fans leaving as if it was a funeral. But the fans were there and rockin' for 59:57 minutes.

First game in 5 years and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was electric!

I may just go back to the AP game. I cant recall ever being such a fun place to spend the day tailgating and then the stadium experience was as good as any I have seen

As long as Johnson is under center there will be no pass game. Dude gets worse every game.

Someone mentioned that there were 4 drops of very catchable balls.

Johnson was 10/20. If those passes weren't dropped he would have been 14/20. 70% is a very good completion rate. His receivers have to help him.

The loss of 10 points stood out, a penalty nullified a FG, that is unacceptable!

The TD pass turned INT!

 

On the Cats last drive when they got inside the 10 I did not like the clock management. UK calls a time out with 20 seconds still on the play clock and then throws the ball on 3rd down further stopping the clock. All in all that likely was about a 1 minute swing that would have made UGA's final drive a lot harder to do and increase the chances of UK winning. Stoops when ask about the decision to throw said they liked the match up and decided to go for it but me as an armchair QB getting to second guess the play call after the fact thinks it was a terrible decision. We also gave their receivers way to much cushion atleast early on when UGA ran their hurry up offense resulting in them flying down the field.

 

I still came away from my first UK game in years feeling pretty good as the atmosphere was electric all day from tailgate to game and I got for quarters worth of fun but in the end it was the same old Cats that do not know how to finish. This goes all the way back to my UK years. I have been to so many finishes by UK like this that I cant even count but it still seems like improvement over where UK has been lately

In my opinion, Kentucky should have went with the standard offense once they got to the red zone at the end. They played for a field goal instead of a TD and it cost them.
