The Russell Red Devils kick off the 2016 playoffs at home against Bye. What does Russell need to do to avoid the upset? And, more importantly, who the heck is Bye? I mean seriously, I can't find anything about this team anywhere.

Anyway, who ya got?

They just played Raceland 3 weeks ago. Geez. Do your homework.

Incorrect. Raceland played "Open". Bye is the school that split off from Open.

Devils need to escape from this one injury-free.

Just be glad that you're not playing "Idle" or "Open", imo you may get past Bye.

Don't know all the drawbacks, but think Russell may be the "loser" drawing the Bye. Players, team, and entire program get off balance and out of routine of weekly practice, film study, and game prep. Staleness sets in as outside interests become dominant in this down week. Future opponent has gained advantage of already having a first round victory. Opponent knows with certainity who they will be playing and have potential opportunity of extra planning/prep versus Russell has two possible opponents needing to split study, planning and prep. Just saying, most coaches would prefer not drawing Bye, with the exception of having healing time if needed.

This is NOT the type of game you want to play to prepare for Belfry.

On the bright side BYE may throw as many passes as the Pirates will.

I'm going with history in this game. Many may not know, but no one has ever lost to BYE. Ever. Now, many teams have fallen the game immediately after BYE and that is the problem Russell has to deal with, don't get over confident after beating BYE.

That's the first time I've ever voted for BYE! But think they are the underdog!:lol2:

This is a home game for Russell right? Bye has not lost a game at home but they are still win less on the road.

I'll put good money down that Russell advances to next week and this is the last time you hear from BYE in these playoffs

Seriously though, not sure this is an advantage for Russell or not. Out of your routine even if you're playing a gimme game. Yes you could get someone hurt, but that's any game. Other team coming in is feeling good about their chances coming off a win.

Then again, looking at Russell's schedule they haven't had a week off during the season. They started late (August 27th was their first game), so they are probably due a breather especially after the knife-fight game with Raceland last week on the road (29-28 Red Devils!).

It's hard to prepare for an opponent when there's no film to break down. Heck, I can't even find a roster anywhere!

I have faith that TJ will have the Devils fired up and ready to go. They can't get caught looking ahead to a possible showdown with Belfry. Just stay focused on the task at hand and execute.

I believe this is Bye's first ever trip to Flatwoods. Let's put them away early and send them home with a loss, back to... where ever it is they come from.

Bye is actually pretty tough. Kinda vanilla though. Defensively, they give up a lot yardage. Looking at the projected weather forecast...calling for a very foggy night. Russell should be very careful...because with Bye's uniforms, they'll be very, very difficult to see.
