In my mind? 1. Trinity has been the measuring stick with St. X and Male tied at 2 and Scott County right behind them. SK is next over the past 10 years with Ryle and then Campbell included.

Again, not trying to trounce on the NKY 6A. I want them to be good. But outside of Dixie making it to the finals, No one else has made it passed the third round in recent history on the weak side of the bracket. Most years it's the NKY teams playing a very weak first round opponent, then meeting up with another NKY team that played another weak opponent and then the winner of that game losing the next game to whoever they see (again, on the weak side of the bracket). None of that screams elite or even getting close to it.

 

NKY teams love to throw up T, X and Male. But the facts are, you're not getting beat by those teams. If you were, then that's a different story! But until NKY is consistently making it to those teams, there is no discussion about elite or anywhere near elite in NKY.

 

I've said it before...I'd love to be able to talk smack with our friends in Louisville!!! LOL! But as of now, they would win that battle very easily and I'll stay under my rock! LOL!

 

And you know what, I bet they would welcome another challenger every year. That makes it more fun!

That may be true if you are talking all together as one. But if you're talking elite within your class. There are some.

 

Again, it depends on how we define elite. Cause one could argue "what makes Male or St X elite?"

 

Until we agree on definition, we'll all have different opinions of what it is.

I really don't understand that statement. Cooper has beaten both Ryle and Campbell the over the past few years,,how are both teams a measuring stick for an elite program?

3 NKY teams have played in the 6A title game and SK has fared the worst of the 3. At least Dixie and Ryle scored.

Depends on who wins the match-up between them and Seneca.

My question for SK fans. How long do you think the school district will let SK grow in enrollment while Scott shrinks/remains stagnant? SK and Scott are apparently in district rivals but SK has nearly double Scott's enrollment. If I were an SK supporter, I'd be concerned about a major district realignment coming up in the next ten years. I have not heard anything and it may never happen, but it just seems at some point the Kenton County School District will have to do something to get kids going to Scott.

Plenty of room to make SK bigger.

Need to clean up some issues at woodland and Scott and kids will come back. An addition at SK is already much needed.

This is a good question. I think you may see a redistrict sooner rather than later but with open enrollment I am not sure how much will change. There is always talk of getting rid of open enrollment but I don't see it ever happening. There would be way to much push back and the school board doesn't want that. SK has established they can fit at least 1750 students so as Independence grows they may set a max per class number and that would effect open enrollment. But then again if they can't compete with 1750 students there might be further issues.
