Featured Replies

Only going to stand so he can get signed. If Im a NFL team I dont take a chance that once signed he doesnt do the same thing.

He burnt his bridges.

You can't un-support America, good luck in Canada.

In thinking about it, I dont think a team in Canada picks him up either, they are more patriotic than most Americans up there.

If he could play like he did a few years ago teams would not care if he stands, kneels or rolls over during the anthem.

There is a lot of talk that he was "influenced" by his girlfriend Nessa Diab to take the actions he did. So maybe they decided that his taking a knee has run its course and it is time to move on with another team and he does not want any team to think he is going to be a distraction. Maybe they just got tired of answering questions about what he did.

Disturbed about race relations so he used his public profile to draw attention. Now that he needs a job, not so eager to do the same. Tells me he isn't as 'committed' as we were lead to believe.

For those that didn't have respect for what he did in the first place, this of course does nothing to help/rectify that and probably gives them even more fodder to fire at him. For those that did respect what he did and the stand he took, this action will probably go quite a ways in eroding that respect, as, in my opinion, it should. He's in a no win situation, and he put himself firmly there.

I supported Kaepernick when he took his knee. I support Kaepernick now that his protest is over. My respect for him hasn't eroded one iota and from I am hearing he still has a ton of respect from those who supported his actions. I hope he lands on a team he wants to be on.

Not sure one, if not losing some respect for him over this, would not at least question this whole event and wonder what Kaps motivations were and if he truly felt what he was saying and truly believed in the stance he took. I mean surely you have to see the hypocrisy in this right? Now that he's looking for a job and his stance might interfere with that, he's ready to drop it like hot potato. Is that not hypocritical? I mean I know why he's doing it...he doesn't want to risk losing possibly millions of dollars. But you either stand for something or not, especially something supposedly felt so deeply, right?

So he should kneel for forever? At what point should he quit kneeling? The whole point of his protest was to draw attention to perceived injustices in today's society. He did that. In a major way. Just because you and many others despised what he did doesn't mean that he didn't accomplish what he wanted to accomplish. I question whether any of his BGP haters even know what he wanted to accomplish. All of the focus was on his protest and then people discrediting his reasoning for his protest but can anyone on here truly tell me what he wanted to accomplish?

I understand how the optics look to you and many others on here. That's your perspective and there is no way many people on here can have the same perspective that I do. We are all different people with different truths. I have a ton of respect for Kaepernick and while there are some things he has done and said that I don't agree with he has accomplished a ton by simply taking a knee. I'm proud of him and I also don't think this is a money grab move but a time to move on move. What he did took guts. Guts that a lot of people, including myself, that I know don't have. I agreed with his reasoning for taking a knee but I'd never take a knee. Too scared. Way too scared. He wasn't scared. I'll always remember that and respect him immensely as a result.

So he should kneel for forever? At what point should he quit kneeling?

That's actually a good question and unfortunately for him, he kind of pigeonholed himself with this whole thing. By stating he isn't kneeling any longer after the situation comes up where he needs a job, he looks hypocritical. Maybe his plan all along was to quit kneeling after this past season anyway, and as it works out he was released and the whole thing was just bad timing. Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm quite sure you are in the know more about this than I, but I thought he alluded to the fact he would kneel as an act of protest until positive changes as he perceives them were made. But have changes been made to the extent it would cause him to end his protest? Again, I may be wrong on that but I thought he made a comment that alluded that was his goal.

You do understand that he opted out of his contract? He wasn't released or waived. He chose to leave the 49ers on his own accord so these statements of him doing this because he needs a job seem misinformed. He "doesn't have a job" because he wanted to test the free agency market. Unless he and his agent are misinformed then there must be a market for him. Otherwise he would have stayed in San Francisco if he needed a job so badly. From what I have read new GM John Lynch was on board with keeping Kaepernick as the QB as they now don't have a QB.

Following his protests the work Kaepernick has done in the community has been a positive change. He's done numerous things in the Bay Area and is continuing with a lot of programs of activism that he began. He is also continuing to make six figure donations to various groups and is still educating a lot of Bay Area youth on various social issues. Let's say your belief is correct. For all we know maybe he has seen the positive changes you are stating he said he needed to see before he decided to quit kneeling.

To even question whether or not he has seen enough changes to end his protest sounds to me like he had every reason to protest in the first place.

My first thought when I heard that he was finished "taking a knee" was that maybe he thought that he had attracted enough new eyes and ears to the issues.

I thought the same kind of thing as well. Truthfully I thought the reaction would be more of satisfaction than whatever it is you call this commentary about him deciding to end it. Weird that he gets outrage for protesting and outrage for ending the protest. :lol2: :lol2:

When it's starts to hurt you're wallet or bottom end, you do what many posers do and go back after the American dollar.
