Ashland/Russell Predictions

Featured Replies

 Hmm, I guess they just didn't want the ball anymore "6 fumbles" and just gave it to us??? I really don't think so, Ashland showed up last night and came ready to play! And thats just what they did, knocking the ball loose 6 times!! c,mon give credit where credit is due.;)

Congrats to the cats on the win,;) Belfry had way too many turnovers and should have won. DEVILS WON'T DO THE SAME. :fight:

You see turnovers are part of the game. You cant say they turned it over a lot, but they should have won. Securing the football is pretty much job #1 in football and when you DONT DO IT you DONT WIN. Plain and simple.

Russell -34

Ashland -14

Russell is a clear favorite in this one ....no doubt. Having said that I say the "ghost" of Putnam :scared: file out of the walls of the stadium and suit up for the Tomcats. / Ashland- 22, Russell - 20 .

Russell 27-21.

As with any true rivalry, especially one appearing this early on the schedule, one should be cautious about making predictions on what "should" happen…particularly if you are using stats from the few games these two teams have played this season. Those of us who have followed this rivalry between the Tomcats and devils know that oft times the teams that should have won (on paper), didn’t. Anyone in their right football mind has to give the nod to russell…but…I love the role of underdog and I think most prognosticators will put Ashland in that position. Ashland earned a heck of a boost in confidence during last Friday’s contest with Belfry and playing this game at our beloved Putnam Stadium doesn’t hurt our chances either.

Russell “should” win this game…they will be a clear favorite on paper. Defending State Champions, returning starters, Mr. Football candidate, Hall of Fame coach…yada, yada, yada…this game is theirs to lose.

However…I like the Tomcat’s chances with this one and am not ready to pencil in an “L” just yet. After all…that’s why we play the game, right?

Painter I couldnt have said it better myself. All this talk of the better team... Ill tell you Friday night around 11 o'clock. But I love this game, almost more than any other. Both teams are better than the other, both stadiums are better than the other, and of course both fa nbases are better than the other. If you dont believe me just ask the fans! But this should be a great game. Good luck to both teams in their contest.

Loving this week of the schedule more than most,

Yoter

Very well said painter, that is why I posted what I did earlier in post #94 picking Ashland. Hey, maybe the "ghost" of Putnam are hiding in that visitor locker room that they complain so much about.:D .....Go Tomcats!!!

I think Russell is the better football team, but Putnam has a funny way of treating better teams. Ashland has found a little backbone after Raceland sucker-punched them. I'm going to give the nod to Russell because I don't think the T-Cats would had beat Belfry if Belfry had not helped them do so. (Fumbles & Flags) But if the Hart and Co. come out with a W I won;t be that surprised.

Russell: 28

Ashland: 27 (They go for 2 in OT and mess up on the pitch)

Tomcats did a good job on capitalizing on turnovers,Belfry didnt look like the Belfry of old. Russell has too strong of a defense:fight: to let Ashland capitalize on offense to many times.GOOD LUCK TO BOTH. :thumb:

You are correct but why can't you see that when Ashland is on the losing side. You are 100% correct but your view changes when the tides are turned. Come on, be consistent.

Didn't the current Ashland seniors beat Russell back when they were freshmen in the Kiwanis Bowl? Thats the last time the varsity beat Russell too if im not mistaken.

I believe that the weather will play a big factor in the game. I hear that its supposed to rain on Thursday and Friday. It helped Ashland by throwing the ball last week but if it rains then that part of the game may be taken out.

Ashland wins if its not raining but if it does Ashland loses by 2 touchdowns.

You are correct and I believe Russell missed the try for 2 for the win in overtime! Man do you see some similarities from last Friday night! Anyway it was a great win for the Tomcats last friday I told you in a post after the Raceland game you all would be just fine! Anyway I predict a great game for friday night! It'll be worth the 5 dollar ticket, also man big names all over the field. McDavid, Thomas, Davis. And the Devils Clark, Sizemore, Jones. Big time lines for both schools Snodgrass, Gullett, Harvey,Hicks, Rigsby! Man what a game at one of the top 2 places to watch a high school game!:D Right GodIsATomcat!:p

Wait...Your from Lawrence County??? I would think you would want to keep the Tomcats on your schedule after this year???

Well, way to butter up the home team???

I hope we prove your prediction wrong.

I'm originally from Lawrence co. but moved to Hazard. But btw I'm stateing my opinion about the game, no hard feelings in any way.:thumb: But L.C. seems to be down this year but I'm pretty confident with my DAWGS year in and year out. But back to the topic, just admit the Tomcats has NO chance at all this year against Russell. You won't Prove me wrong, Kasey Clark will have his way with the WEAK defense of ashland all night. Sticking to my original prediction of Ashland- 14 Russell- As many as desired :fire:
