Ashland/Russell Predictions

Featured Replies

8 points or 80 points they still got the WIN!;) Another case of a upset fan that can't accept a loss. Like I said in previous post, accept the loss and move one, the hardest thing for ashland fans to do. let me state my score of this game again and say Russell can win this game by as many as they want. :sssh:

This group of Russell Seniors are 28-2 since the start of their Sophmore season, with a State Championship to go with it. That is very, very impressive. As much as I would love to see Ashland win this game, I believe that Russell is just a more talented football team. I believe that the Red Devils will have an unblemised record this year on their way to Back to Back Championships. Given all of that, this game is usually played close to the best.

Russell 27

Ashland 14

Do any of the Huntington TV stations televise HS games the way WYMT in Hazard occasionally does? They're missing a good opportunity with that tri-state market and those Ky. and Ohio rivalries, and I'm sure there are a few good WV games too. Even tape delay (instead of those infomercials or after school type stuff) would be great. Wish I could see this game. A buddy of mine all the way down in Pikeville was watching an Ironton game on cable last night, but I don't think it was a network feed.

The Ashland /BC game was televised last season. But the production and announcers were HORRIBLE! It was really painful to watch.

Too bad, because those big stations could do better and are missing a great opportunity. Little ole' WYMT does a fantastic job, and probably has the best Friday (and when UK's playing, Saturday) Sports Overtime show. I believe the station is primarily owned by a Lexington station, but they really put alot of effort into area sports.

I am not disputing the win! I was just suprised that Ashland even had a chance at the end like they did, after not playing a very good game.

I apoligize if it came off that way:thumb: By the way I think it will be alot closer than, as many as they want. Talk about Ashland fans getting the Big Head?? WOW! :D

Don't think he's one of our's???

I think most of us would be surprised if this game turns into a blow out...

Russell 28

Ashland 7

This is game is really too close to call... In my heart I am pulling for Russell always but the strengths of Ashlands game plays into the Devil's weakness and that is the secondary... IF Mahan has a big game through the air then the Tomcats I hate to say it will beat the devils.... I dont think Russell's corners even being a Russell fan myself can cover Ashland one on one in the open field... Russell does not have the great secondary personel that they have had in the past such as Michael Horn, Tommy Brown or Josh gross.....

Russell on the other hand needs to turn this into a slow pace game and grind clock and the tempo of the game way down and slowly beat the Tomcats into submission....A steady diet of Kasey Clarke and Jones on the bootleg mixed in with a little dink and dunk passing game....

Since your so right about your prediction 45 why don't you talk to your AD and see if you can get the Tomcats on YOUR "Hazard" or there abouts schedule next year?? I know that there will be some AA, AAA, or AAAA's down ther that would like their shot at the Tomcats:thumb:

Thanks:fight:

Jacob Sizemore, Tyler Jones and Kasey Clark...............Nuff said.

Don't forget that Kasey Clark and Jacob Sizemore are in that secondary. Nick Lewis isn't too shabby either. And Marcus Frazier is no push over, he doesn't have the size but he has the speed and has improved greatly on his coverage skills. This secondary is not WEAK. Plus you have Tyler Jones also if needed. If not, he'll be making life difficult for Mahan.

Ashland has no shot at a state title in 3a this year and neither would the Devils ( even the most talented ( not champs) teams of 2002 and 2004) ....

Tomcats are playing in there own backyard against a traditional opponent that is flying as high as they have in the history of Russell Program. Surely this doesn't have to keep being explained.

If I was Ashland , I would play this up with the kids and community all week ... ie we need the entire school and town show up and get wild to cut down the Devils ( who just might be getting to big for their britches ) ...

Atmosphere friday should be electric ... if it isn't Ashland has missed a chance for greatness ...

But Russell doesn't play in 3A, they play in 2A.

Wait...Your from Lawrence County??? I would think you would want to keep the Tomcats on your schedule after this year???

Well, way to butter up the home team???

I hope we prove your prediction wrong.
