International Goal Tending Rule in the NBA?

Featured Replies

Would you like to see the International Goal Tending Rule in the NBA? Watching the Olympics this week I think I've changed my mind and would like to see this International Rule adopted by the NBA.

What about it, you want it or not?

So basically once the shot hits the rim, there's no such thing as being "in the cylinder"? No more shots that would bounce straight up and drop in because once it hits the rim the trees can go up and swat it away? I honestly haven't paid that much attention to the international game.

I would welcome the rule change.

Yes...

Yes...

I would have to think about it. I'm not quite sure. But, has this rule been in effect for quite a while internationally? If so, that would mean our Olympic teams have played under this rule for quite a while as well?

Yessir. That would awesome. It's harder to do than people think and for all the folks that say the NBA has no defense they wouldn't be able to say that anymore.

And for clarification, you still can't goaltend. You just pretty much eliminate offensive and defensive interference. No issues with that at all.

It doesn't seem to occur often but I think you'd see it on a higher level in the NBA due to superior athleticism. I say let the Olympics keep it, the NBA isn't in to defense.

I think it would be great.

Don't let the foreigners change the American game where points are welcome.

Soccer sucks. Nuff said.

I always laugh when I hear people say they don't play defense in the NBA...simply NOT true...

I do too. I laugh and then I am sad that people aren't seeing what I see. I think people either take for granted how good the pros are or they truly have no clue just how good the pros are.
