Not sure how he gets beaten up otherwise.
August 10, 201610 yr Not much info in the article, but Judo guy is 5'8", 160 lbs. If a dude rolls up on you that is 6" taller and outweighs you by 70 lbs (totally plausible), then judo can only take you so far.

Get down! We are taking fire.”’ “I know what a gun sounds like,” she said. “It was the sound before I ever saw the glass (shatter) or anything.” The Rio organizing committee said the driver heard a noise from inside the bus, which he thought was photography equipment falling down. When he checked his rear view mirror, he found the journalists were lying on the ground. I've seen a Muay Thai fighter fight a German who has easily double his size. Knocked the german out in the first round, it was great. When I was in Thailand, our teacher gave us specific orders, that no matter how small the thai people look, never get into a confrontation with them. After seeing how they fight, I am glad I took his advice. Impressive, to say the least, to see how much power can come from such a small frame. Nonetheless, the only way i see this judo fighter being mugged is if he was either drunk or sucker punched.
