An After School Satan Club could be coming to your kid’s elementary school

Featured Replies

SALEM, Mass. —It’s a hot summer night, and leaders of the Satanic Temple have gathered in the crimson-walled living room of a Victorian manse in this city renowned for its witch trials in the 17th century. They’re watching a sepia-toned video, in which children dance around a maypole, a spider crawls across a clown’s face and eerie, ambient chanting gives way to a backward, demonic voice-over. The group chuckles with approval.

Would like to see whose parents let them join?

What a shame we Christians have sit back and let this kind of stuff happen.

I'm sure some will be glad to defend it.

Nothing takes me on a nostalgic stroll down memory lane like reminiscing over my evenings at After School Satanic Club. I would watch the clock tick during Ms. Wilson's third grade social studies class just so I could run down the hall and hear what Lucien Greaves had to say.

Would like to see whose parents let them join?

You don't have to set back and let it happen. You're free to voice your opinions on the subject. However, you must allow those that think and worship differently than you to think and worship as they please. Plenty of people think the things that "you Christians" do are crazy but they must allow you to worship in your own way.

I think it's crazy also, but these people have the same rights as the rest of us.

A name change would probably be a good start to get that message through a little better.

The Satanic Temple — which has been offering tongue-in-cheek support for the fallen angel in public arenas that have embraced prayer and parochial ceremonies — is bringing its fight over constitutional separation of church and state to the nation’s schools.

But the group’s plan for public schoolchildren isn’t actually about promoting worship of the devil. The Satanic Temple doesn’t espouse a belief in the existence of a supernatural being that other religions identify solemnly as Satan, or Lucifer, or Beelzebub. The Temple rejects all forms of supernaturalism and is committed to the view that scientific rationality provides the best measure of reality.

Equality.

Terrible thing, ain't it.

Can you pay with Paypal?

No. Your soul only.

Well, at least with how hardcore schools are about permission slips and parental consent, I'd guess nobody's kid would be there without permission.

I really don't see how this could take off, especially after Halloween is over.

Can someone call Ted Cruz? He needs a topic to bring him back into the public eye.

Let what happen? Did you read the article? These folks are simply using the precedent established by the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Liberty Counsel to allow Christian teaching in schools to insure that they have the same rights. If the "Satanists" don't have a right to meet at school, do the Wiccan? The Pagans? The Jehovah's Witnesses? The Scientologists? The 7th Day Adventists? The Baptists? The Catholics? Where does the line get drawn and who gets to draw it?

A name change would probably be a good start to get that message through a little better.

Awwwwwwww, I thought alters would be brought in so a Black Mass could be performed.

Before anyone sets themselves, that was gross sarcasm or better put, me being a smart alec, or other term that triggers word filter violations.
