How did you get your most noticeable scar?

Featured Replies

I have a long keloidal scar up my left forearm that is a result from me shattering both bones in my forearm playing baseball the summer between my sophomore and junior years. I was playing SS, was running backwards diagonally chasing a pop-up, dove for the ball, and landed on the very edge of a parking lot with my wrist / glove / ball folded under -- both bones literally shattered from the mid-point to the elbow. Surgery to vacuum out the wound and insert bones from a cadaver. Surgery to take out the plates and screws. Surgery to insert more bone when I grew so my arms would be the same length. Surgery to take out those plates and screws. All through the same incision.

Ouch. Was that a home game? Why no fence between the playing field and parking lot?

total knee reconstruction.

I also have a scare in the palm of my left hand from when I was in my teens working construction and fell off the foundation wall but caught a concrete wall tie, and it went through my hand.

3 inch scar on my right forearm where I tried to push open an outside door, and my hand went through the glass. Otherwise, a clean slate.

Thumb surgery on my right thumb.

Scar above one of my eyes in my eyebrow from taking a sucker punch in high school.

Scar on my ring finger on my right hand from puncturing it at work.

A couple of scars from skateboard and bicycle wrecks.

Road game, out of town. Fence stopped just behind 3rd base. LF yelled "you got room"....I didn't.

Good God people...mine pale in comparison but I'll have at it!

Mine are all reckless youth in the 70s battles except for one...

* When you lose a hockey puck in deep snow you get innovative. Well, said innovative frozen candle split my head open on the receiving end of a slapshot because of said horses butt who slapped shot original puck in the snow. Hair covers it!

* Small tornado produced flying debris and said debris contained glass from broken window which decided to pay a visit to my knee. Crazy story, not enough time to share.

* The you've got to be kidden me moment happened in my 30s when I decided to use a coffee mug to heat my razor blade while shaving in the shower ( Mrs. C1 used my normal plastic cup to rinse a pet ). So the coffee mug seemed convenient at the time. Said cup fell off ledge and resulting shrapnel split my big toe open to the bone. I bled like a stuck pig. Had to show the director of the company I was working for at the time the stitches because it was beyond imaginable!

Less than 15 stitches for each wound. I've been fortunate to have not had worse. I was a fearless "risk taker" back in the day between bmx, skateboarding, cliff jumping, tree climbing/ tree fort building...my friends and I were fearless evil knievel warriors! :lol2:

Box cutter to the inner mid-thigh of my left leg, from part-time job at grocery store when I was in high school.

My face has been a landing spot for several scars. Luckily, for hair and plastic surgeons, not too noticeable.

I took a beer bottle across the face and have a scar between my eyes.

I took a baseball to above my right eye and had to get stitches.

I took a full coke can to my mouth and split my lip open and chipped a couple teeth.

I tried to ride my big wheel down our steep back hill and had to get stitches in my knee.

....but how many of these happened as an adult ?

If you mean being over 18 as an adult, just one. If you mean was I adulting, zero.

Two total knee replacements. Zipper knees.

Told her its not you, its me...she stabbed me in the eye with a fork.
