I look at these polls the way I look at the first college football playoff rankings. There is so much that could happen that you can't get too wrapped up in them. Interesting to look at but not anything to rely on yet.

As I believe I mentioned in this thread, if you want a good indication of how the election will end up in November, give it 2-3 weeks after the conventions have ended and look at the polls. It almost always is accurate. 538 showed the last dozen or so elections. The candidate ahead in those polls went on to win the vote every time (exception being Bush/Gore where Gore won the popular vote, lost electoral college).

This may be the case this year also.

I don't disagree. I think it was Mark Cuban who said he thinks there's a better than 50/50 shot that Trump wins the popular vote, but loses the electoral college. If it happens, I can't wait to watch the reactions. Something tells me a lot of people will have different opinions than they did in 2000.

On both sides.

No way Trump wins popular vote - I think this election has the highest voter turnout ever, and the demographic shift kills Trump.

If I'm Clinton I'm registering everybody I can and driving them to the polling location.

538 has HRC now with 66% chance of winning. Dropped in the last week or so.
Now at

Hillary Clinton

53.3%

Donald Trump

46.7%

As of the latest update on 538...this of course may change in the next few days...if Clinton receives the bump some expect from the DNC.

Essentially a coin flip. What's the margin of error ?
