June 21, 201610 yr Study Hall. I just couldn't stay that quiet. It was like a giant canvass that screamed for some shenanigans and I was just the artist to do it! Although not a "class", it still was assigned to my schedule sooo..
June 21, 201610 yr Probably PE. That 30 minutes of pickleball really made an impact when I went to practice or lifting after school everyday. AP Psych was also the major senior blowoff class in my school. Usually great for taking a long lunch. When actually going to class everyone would just turn their desks in a circle so we could talk or goof off. We all signed up to take the AP test (I have no idea why) and there was audible laughter in the room from our class as we were clueless. People eventually just got up and threw their exams in the trash and left.
June 21, 201610 yr Geology. I had it for 2 semesters, can't tell you how much that cost. What I do know is that I don't give a rip about minerals or if they can cut glass.
June 21, 201610 yr Now that I've been out in the real world...I'm not totally convinced that college isn't a scam. I work for a large financial company. They require a college degree for probably 90% of their jobs. They don't care what the degree is in. I work with people who have their series 7 brokerage licenses with degress in art, psychology, foreign language, etc. You have to have a degree to get in the door.
June 21, 201610 yr I took Greek for about 3 weeks in college. Or better stated, Greek took me for about 3 weeks in college. I was going to take Greek, but it was all Greek to me, so I decided not to.
June 21, 201610 yr I'm going to say the "Math For Liberal Arts Majors" class I had to take just before graduation at NKU. I had tried for years to get them to accept the 100-level math class I had taken my second semester at WKU, but NKU wouldn't transfer it, for whatever reason. I was totally dreading it. I can add and subtract, multiply and divide in my head. The concept of "show your work" was not going to fly. I felt better about it when the crux of the class was figuring out relatively simple things such as ratios, figuring election results, etc. However, I couldn't come close to doing the problems the way the guy wanted. I just came up with the correct answer and worked backward from there. Total waste of my time, and the instructor knew it, so he gave me an A anyway. Most of my HS classes were a waste of time. Except one. It was the one class I failed in HS, which was my 9th-grade typing class. It has since proven the most useful class I took during the entirety of my primary and secondary education.

But is that really the smartest path for some students? I'm an almost 40-year old man and I still owe $30,000 in student loans. Sure, I have a good job but financially speaking, was it worth it?

Sure, I have a good job but financially speaking, was it worth it? People questioning the value of college is in the same category of people saying "the music these kids listen to nowadays!" (edit: I don't mean this as an argument with you, just to say it is a thought that every generation seems to have, like the one about music.) College is worth it, and "worth it" now more than ever. June 21, 201610 yr History of Latin America I needed a 500 level history course at one point and I signed up for classes based on what time they met. I ended up taking the Modern History of the Iberian Peninsula. The one bit of knowledge I still have is that there were many revolutions.

June 21, 201610 yr Latin. Wow, that was one of my most important. Makes health care admission tests way easier. I'll say my psychology class at Morehead. Useless as teets on a boar hog.
