What was your greatest high school athletic or academic achievement?

Featured Replies

Does beer drinking fall under athletic? I trained pretty hard. I'll leave the achievement part out for now.

Being the soloist for the Missouri All-State Choir.

It is to an extent, but I left out the details. We were significantly better than St. Patrick & it was a 5-inning no-hitter because we short-gamed them.

was this junior year?

35 on the ACT before prep classes existed. Was out until 2am the night before taking part in underage imbibing, maybe that helped. I am so glad my kids know nothing about this website, they've only heard half the story.

Had some decent football exploits but we weren't much better than average, so probably getting on the podium at the state track finals with my relay teams.

Edit: Now that I think about it the state meet got us out of going to the graduation baccalaureate. That was probably the best part. I don't know who gave speeches but I'm glad I didn't have to listen. :lol2:

I didn't really find myself academically until college.

I've never really found myself athletically. Maybe I managed to not look like a complete fool one day in February my freshman year while playing floor hockey in the gym.

Nothing of note. My best effort in HS wrestling was a 1-0 loss to the county champion in the tournament as a junior.

Academically, testing out of freshman Comp 1 and 2 at Morehead, being selected as the graduate assistant in MSU's psychology program (primarily tutoring Statistics and Experimental Psychology).

My children, on the other hand...:thumb:

I have to go with a team achievement, winning the Class 1A State Championship in 1984 as a Junior.

And as a measure of how times have changed, I got knocked out with a concussion in the game but only missed one play.

On a personal note, I can still hear John Tong saying my name after making a tackle. Gives me chills.

Back in my football days theguru was at the Bellevue/Dayton game I played in. He took a picture of me. This was back in the day when on the homepage of BGP was rotating pictures. I was one of the pictures that was rotating. By far my best life accomplishment.

3 time football state champ

Forgot to add was invited to Army Junior All American Combine in San Antonio, don't know if I really deserved to be there but it was a pretty awesome experience.

I was always a "do as I say and not as I did" parent.

Athletic - Junior year was conference champ, regional champ, and 5th in state at 175lb weight class in Ohio. Blew up my knee senior year football and didn't get to wrestle.

Academics - 32 ACT - Perfect math and science.

I remember that game.

Some of the administrators looked at us like we had two heads.

Gave all the photos away from that game too.
