Trump and taxes

That's what you are missing...No one thinks he is the "Conservative Savior" as you put it.

Donald Trump at best is just a little right of center...but what he is, "He is not Hillary Rodham Clinton" that is where his support will grow from. To paraphrase an Obama political strategist 8 years ago, "The longer she is in front of the American people the weaker her support gets."

JD, he may not be your conservative savior, but some on this board believe he will turn this nation around. His political leanings depend on the weather and who he is speaking in front of.

TBH, both candidates have that same issue. HRC isn't likeable and Big Don is offensive. At the current rate Congress may have a higher favorability rating by November.

Well, JJ. He is a fake. Trump transformed into the conservative savior 8 months ago: his views from guns to abortion to healthcare swung right when he decided to run for president.

Trump's platform of making America great again began by implicating that immigrants are ruining this country exposing an underlying thread of prejudice in our nation. He doesn't actually believe any of what he says on fixing the matter: he acknowledges he can't build a wall, and he even employs illegal immigrants.

He isn't self-funded, and will be taking the GOP funds in the general just another lie Big Don will flop on. And this tax fiasco would be icing on the cake further proving he is just a phony blowhard whose interest in this nation remains in his own glory. Take advantage of the tax code all you want, but don't run down the state of this great nation while you are doing nothing to help.

As far as his statements go, his brash offensive tone is unprofessional, but what's worse is he establishes a model that is acceptable for anyone to call it like they see it no matter who they offend: especially women and immigrants.

Our president serves our entire nation not just those he/ she feels supports them. As the leader of the free world you cannot insult and demean those that disagree with you, but this is not Trump. He uses his bully pulpit to tear down his political foes and then expects them to work with him.

I won't go so far to say he will destroy this nation. That is hyperbole, but the tone of this nation will change, and we will be rewarding a rich fake by electing him to the highest office on the planet.

The tone of this nation needs to change and do about a 180. Trump is not a politician. America does not need any politicians. Thats why we are where we are now. You act like changing positions should disqualify anyone from running for office? Is this was you are saying? If so we can go there, but you do not want to.

I just find it almost unbelievable that anyone and I really mean this, anyone would vote for Hillary given her record and being under criminal investigation by the FBI and they have made it very clear its a criminal investigation. A friend who is a young guy( 22) said to me the other day. " I hate to say this, but America needs Donald Trump or someone like that". He is right.

So you think he if gets elected he is going to become exactly opposite of what he is saying? You really think he is going to betray his base? He is much smarter than that.

Actually, there is a fair basis for this perception. I saw an interview Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, one of the #NeverTrump crowd who without an ounce of shame openly advocated Trump abandon his complete platform to embrace establishment conservatism.

The GOP has been very poor in actually delivering anything to the base. Lots of promises on social issues, jobs issues. Its been very common for GOP presidential candidates to reverse positions completely.

Trump however, did not go to the Bill Kristol school of conservatism. His passion reflects an authenticity we have not seen in a GOP candidate. His connection with working Reagan Democrats is sincere and his willingness to criticise the Bush's on the Iraq war and to criticise free trade make his candidacy unique in my lifetime.

Trump is a listener. You don't accumulate that kind of wealth without being a listener. Establishment GOP has their ideology and they push it onto the base, in ignorance of the voters they are supposedly serving. This is why they have failed to win the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 Presidential elections.

It's obvious we disagree on the state and direction of this nation.

That we agree on, but you do not want to address the changing if stances? Its not like there is one candidate that has never done it?

Can't speak for HC, but not me. The 1-percenters need to get hit much harder.

Why?

Is he running for president? Is he campaigning on "how to make America great again"?

I also said I hate our tax code that allows this.

Best you got. HRC paid taxes. Probably not enough, but at least she had to write a check that had a number before the 0.

If it turns out Big Don pays zero taxes, it's reprehensible and very hard to defend.

I don't like the tax code either, but every loophole he uses is legal. I think seniors should be means tested to draw Social Security and whether or not to tax said benefits. There are so many seniors out here who get $500 or less. 1% should be paying more. Yes, I'll vote for Trump, who knows if elected he may sign an Executive Order that causes him to pay more in taxes. Could become quite interesting.

Yes, and after my next post you will post "better than Hillary." It's your every third post.

I have said several times "if".

You just read the parts you want. I don't agree with Buffett's ability to find all these loopholes either.

I just respond to what you post.

Revising or eliminating trade deals accomplishes that. Free Trade has resulted in concentration of wealth at the expense of millions of lost manufacturing jobs, expertise and capacity. The primary reason Trump has had so much resistance from his own party, is that free trade rollbacks hurt the 1%.

Come one, JJ. I know what you're going to say. Hillary flip-flopped on the Iraq War (as did most of the nation including myself). Gay marriage a complete turn by HRC from 10 years ago, but I bet you can't name 10 politicians championing that cause at that time period.

However, you're missing my point entirely. These aren't adjustments. Trump must have been blinded by the light on the road to Damascus about last June.

Not likely Mamaw.

Well, JJ. He is a fake.

I agree.

And so do Hillary's southern accent and Yankees cap.

I enjoy watching people tie themselves into pretzels trying to justify how their candidate's actions are different than the opponent's actions. And of course we all do it.
