One example of phony: The Trumpster appearing before the NRA in L'ville yesterday claiming to be pro-gun when his comments over the past couple of decades indicate otherwise.

malarkey, Trump has been pro-gun for almost 8 months now.

Our Trumpeteers who want to pretend Big Don isn't a phony.

I'm not a "Trumpeteer" by any stretch. But, I seriously doubt that you have any idea on how to pick apart anyone's tax returns that is beyond a basic 1040 Form.

Won't pretend I do.

You can't argue that paying 0 taxes as a billionaire would be harmful to the Trump macho image.

Won't vote for him but it would actually make me feel better about him as it would prove he's smart enough to use very smart advisers. That would be a huge plus in my mind. Assuming of course he did it legally.

We could learn quite a bit from Deflectin' Don's tax returns, which is another way of saying he's got more to lose than gain by releasing them. I pulled the following paragraph from an article speculating same. I think the key fact that would come to light is the breadth of Trump's off-shore tax-dodging. Just my opinion.

"Trump’s tax returns would also provide plenty of information about revenue and expense items that were not on the campaign disclosure forms, including personal mortgages, charitable deductions, unusual tax credits, foreign investments including bank accounts in tax havens, and an overall federal tax rate."

None of which are illegal. I am much more concerned with the possibility of having a President who does not (deserve) qualify for top secret clearance.

Never changed your opinion on a subject in the past, say 5-50 years ago? Age isn't revealed so I gave a wide margin.

Won't pretend I do.

So what if Trump paid no taxes? Do you voluntarily give government money in excess of your tax burden? Blame the tax code, not Trump for taking advantage of it.

Perhaps. But it sure does cast a new light on the phrase "skin in the game."

How so? Does it matter when 47% of Americans are in the same boat?

All of those on the Left complaining about the rich not paying taxes should want the same from the 47%.

Trump would be in the 47%.

I have a hard time looking down on a family of 4 below the poverty line not paying taxes, BUT a multi-billionaire who blows about his money... :taz:

If he doesn't pay taxes.

Trump loves this country and wants to make it great again, yet he doesn't contribute any of his billions to it now. #hypocrite

Do you expect him to change this code? I say he won't.

Hellcats why do you dislike Trump. I can easily tell you why I would never vote for Hillary. What are you reasons for the dislike? He has never been a politician. He is not taking money like 99% of the greedy politicians from both sides? He is brash for sure. He says he wants to take back our country from the greedy lying politicians? These two things alone should be enough to at least listen. If a Democrat were to come with these exact things, I would listen. He has campaigned on securing our borders( which I think everyone agrees on), taking care of America first( and I am just using my words here, but you get the jest) and getting our economy going, make our Military strong and jobs. He has said we will stop anyone that wants to kill our citizens our of our country.( whether its by stopping all flows of immigrants, Muslims is what the outrage is over, but there are no Canadians or Christians with a end time view to destroy the world and bring a one religion domination to the entire world than the Muslims with the Quran as the guide). So if we have jobs, safety for our familys, a strong Military, and a strong economy whats the issue? His brash talk? The fact that he said Rosie was a fat idiot? That he called Megan Kelley out for treating him badly? His campaign manager bruised a reporter( joke) for doing what she was told by the secret service not to do? He wont release his returns yet? The left is using the same fear mongering tactics that they are accusing the Republicans of when dealing with Trump. Care to explain?

Well, JJ. He is a fake. Trump transformed into the conservative savior 8 months ago: his views from guns to abortion to healthcare swung right when he decided to run for president.

Trump's platform of making America great again began by implicating that immigrants are ruining this country exposing an underlying thread of prejudice in our nation. He doesn't actually believe any of what he says on fixing the matter: he acknowledges he can't build a wall, and he even employs illegal immigrants.

He isn't self-funded, and will be taking the GOP funds in the general just another lie Big Don will flop on. And this tax fiasco would be icing on the cake further proving he is just a phony blowhard whose interest in this nation remains in his own glory. Take advantage of the tax code all you want, but don't run down the state of this great nation while you are doing nothing to help.

As far as his statements go, his brash offensive tone is unprofessional, but what's worse is he establishes a model that is acceptable for anyone to call it like they see it no matter who they offend: especially women and immigrants.

Our president serves our entire nation not just those he/ she feels supports them. As the leader of the free world you cannot insult and demean those that disagree with you, but this is not Trump. He uses his bully pulpit to tear down his political foes and then expects them to work with him.

I won't go so far to say he will destroy this nation. That is hyperbole, but the tone of this nation will change, and we will be rewarding a rich fake by electing him to the highest office on the planet.
