Free college starts with The Gipper

No it wouldn't. The government would have frittered that money away as always.

Lol this is such bad math and economics. There is a reason the Huffington Post is bleeding money.

In the obvious economic time that our corporate tax rate is to high the basis of this article is our problems would be solved by a higher tax rate.

We live in a global market where corporations can park money overseas.

That is not even getting into the fact that the basic math in this article is wrong.

"Free College"

Makes me laugh every time.

NOTHING is free people...EVER. Please understand this. If you don't pay for it, it just means someone else is. Not a hard concept but it seems soooooo many people struggle understanding it...

When construction workers start building college dorms and academic halls for free...when professors start teaching for free...when food services workers start working for free and being supplied with free food...when text books are given free of charge to colleges...when utility companies start giving free electricity and water/sewer to the college buildings...when people will offer their time for free to provide campus security and maintenance...when college president's and administration offices will do all the paperwork and running of the school free of charge... when AT LEAST all these things are truly and actually free, meaning no money is given/collected anywhere to provide for these services...THEN maybe we can have free college. Anyone want to volunteer?

Nothing happens in a vacuum. It's just like raising the minimum wage. The market always, ALWAYS, adjusts.

The semantics doesn't make the idea of extending goverment sponsored education any less of an issue. Several states, including KY, are integrating the idea of community college for all. Why would they do this? High school isn't enough anymore. Those days are over just like the days when you could work without any education.

The article's math may be flawed and, yes, taxpayers pay for it making "free college" not free, but our young people will need more skills, or we will have the other side of under-education: poverty and crime.

Look at how wonderful our "free" secondary schools are.

Can't complain about the one my two children attended. One was a national merit scholar and his first job after getting his PhD was at Harvard. The other is working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Bellarmine University after graduating summa at Georgetown College for her undergraduate degree.

Look at how wonderful our "free" secondary schools are.

Amen!

Ignorant assumption.

That's being nice.

But but but, the big evil companies would just have higher taxes. That's all.

Then after a few years of college with a degree hopefully a lot of folks can get jobs at one of those big evil companies. I don't see how that's not a win for everyone..... SMH
