I feel the best player in the 2017 class next season is here in the 4th, Tavin Lovan of Franklin Simpson. More than likely he will never be on the state wide stage though in front of everyone. I would like to see them compete at the KOB next season.

They'll definitely need to get out in the state. KOB, Traditional Bank tournament or the Toyota Classic would do him some good. He needs to be seen by as much of the state as possible to have a chance.

I beleive there will be some guys no one has mentioned that will start gaining some attention. Being juniors this year sitting behind a loaded senior class they did not see much varsity time. A few will rise above and stand out. Good luck to them all.

Is Peyton Broughton in the mix? I saw him play Owen Co this season and thought he was a very nice player. He is extremely athletic.

Same type of situation for Mason Faulkner at Caverna. They may not be competitive but the more he is seen the more it helps his chances.

I'd have to think that Jamil Wilson and David Sloan will provide the same dynamic that Quinten Snider and Kelan Martin had when they were at Ballard.

 

Jacob King of Trinity will be mentioned in the race.

 

Jaylon Hall of Doss will likely be mentioned as well.

I agree that these will likely be the frontrunners from the 6th and 7th. Another player that will get some attention next year is Anthony Mathis from Kentucky Country Day. While it is hard to imagine that a player from KCD would be among the Region's best, Mathis is a stud who was first team all-7th Region this year as a junior.

Forward Tony Jackson from North Hardin can shoot from the three point line and had some monster dunks this year, a scoring machine. He is legit D1 talent and should be considered in the running for this award.

I believe Wilson & Slone are too much of the same to provide what Snider & Martin has done at Ballard. They are both point guards who needs the ball in their hands to be effective.

I agree, if Mathis played anywhere else he would be in the mix, and still might be although I doubt it. His game is similar to Sloan I think, although maybe not as quick or explosive. Great basketball IQ and can flat out shoot from deep.

If Sean McNeil (Cooper) stays healthy the entire season he will be one of the top candidates IMO especially with what the Jaguars have coming back off of a 23-5 season that was cut short by key injuries to their top 3 players.

 

McNeil is the best player in NKy by far.

No one from NKY is winning Mr. Basketball any time soon. They don't get enough press from around the state. Hollingsworth will be the overwhelming favorite next year and as long as he stays healthy he wins it going away.
