The Richard Gatewood kool aid must taste awesome.

That was intended to be sarcastic. I forget that such things are hard to convey through text alone.

Not sure which school he'll be representing but I've got to go with Wiggins.

This I Love!!!

Won't he still be at Newport?

I was wondering. The rest of your post made sense so I had to attack that one. :D

If Sean McNeil (Cooper) stays healthy the entire season he will be one of the top candidates IMO especially with what the Jaguars have coming back off of a 23-5 season that was cut short by key injuries to their top 3 players.

My guess is Sean puts up similar numbers to what we saw from Ben Weyer this year.

He is my preseason #1 in the region next year. Best all around player in the region and best college prospect. A summer playing with OBC in the Adidas Gauntlet should help improve his game tremendously.

Austin Crawford COULD be a dark horse if he wins 10th Region POY...should be him or Jake Ohmer.

I don't ever get much traction when I mention the disadvantage NKy players find themselves with no newspaper coverage to gain exposure statewide. 9th Region doesn't even get an AP Media vote. Maysville Independent Ledger at least has a vote and might submit wire stories from time to time. IMO might be harder for Ohmer than Crawford to get that recognition. Both Scott and Bracken Co. better schedule up next year, or neither of these fine players have a shot.

Chris Vogt and jaylen sebree are dark horses as well.

I haven't seen the big guy from Graves County but Jaylen Sebree doesn't impress me. I watched him play all year and I can see why college coaches want him because of his potential. I just don't think he's going to turn into that guy until he's been in college for a year or two.

If Goodin wasn't able to win it this year I HIGHLY doubt Sloan wins next year. If he has a good AAU summer he might get close to the national exposure Goodin had. Beside that TC will have a difficult time keeping up the same level of success they've had the past few years. North, Adair, John, Central and Bardstown should all be as good or improved from this year. So winning region will be a difficult task for them IMO, unless a stud transfer moves to TC lol

I think David Sloan will be one of the top 3 choices for Mr. Basketball next season. I think it is Taveion Hollingsworth's to lose. A year ago I thought it was Quentin Goodin's to lose.

Long time between now and then.

Jake Ohmer will certainly be considered - could be a situation where he averages 40ppg and gaudy scoring numbers put him in the middle of the conversation.

Didn't work for Mason Faulkner and he is a D1 recruit.

Define your criteria for the award. Ultimately' date=' it's a popularity contest. Hollingsworth has the early advantage based on all the coaches aka voters having seen him play well at Rupp this week. David Sloan has the disadvantage of playing at Taylor County, where everyone hates the coach and program and refuse to vote for kids there. No one sees Lovan. And he's unlikely to get to Rupp next year with BG in the way again. CVH and McNeil could cancel each other out if votes are split from NKY voters. Just my thoughts.[/quote']

I think there is ONE NKY voter.

Dylan James will likely be in the top 5 in scoring, shoot 40% or better and make 3 or 4 threes a game next year at Sheldon Clark next season. With his 6'8" little brother possibly down low on for the varsity team, those two could be a dynamic duo.. The youngster still has a lot to add to his game, but IMO Dylan could have a POY type season. I really wish he could have showcased his shot a little more in this years sweet16. If he makes what he usually does from deep, think he was 2/7 and shot 42% for the season, mercer county is probably celebrating a state title. I'm sure Dunbar had a ton to do with the game he had, but he can drain three or four in just a couple minutes. This could be your sleeper for Mr Basketball next year!

Very true. Dylan James is very good and should be a front runner for 15th Region POY. In fact, the 15th POY should be one of the closest races of all time as Mason Blair (Johnson Central), Trenton Russell (Magoffin County), Timmy Dalton (Lawrence County) and Dylan James (Sheldon Clark) will all be well over 20 ppg for the season and 2K points for their career and all will be seniors.

If I had to pick right now I like Dylan in a very close race, but again all 4 of these kids are very very good and you cant go wrong picking any of them. I wouldnt be surprised to see at least two of them tie by seasons end.

Next years Forcht Bank King of the Bluegrass will feature:

Hollingsworth

Von Handorff

Sloan

Lovan

Taylor

Sebree

and many others

Is the KOb schedule out already? Lots of good players so far, im sure you add Ballard, Trinity, and of course the host Fairdale.

On the mr basketball note, what Hollingsworth did @ Rupp this yr and winning a state title wont be forgotten next year. Someone would have to average 35-40 ppg on a highly ranked team to have a shot. Being from Indiana his game reminds me of Jeff Teague when he was in h.s. Less athletic and explosive but still very quick with a better shot (especially that mid range game). Mid-high D1 schools better check this kid out and get on him quick. Hitting 10-12 ft jumper is a lost art.

TC has some really good young talent. They might not be at the level of this year but they are far from done making appearances at Rupp over the next 4 years...
