I understand Jaylen Sebree probably has more potential then anyone else in the state but Tray Hollowell is much better right now and is much more impressive to watch. I think he is the most talented player in this class. I don't expect Tray to win but I think he'll be top 3. UHA will have a tough road to Rupp but I do think it is possible they make it this year.

Jaylon Hall from Doss could be in the running for 6th region POY. Doss will challenge for a region championship and I think he is their best returning player. Jacob King from Trinity also needs to be mentioned, he led a young Trinity team to the sweet 16.

Indiana University commit Aljami Durham from Lilburn, Georgia Berkmar High School will also be showcased in the 2016 King of the Bluegrass. He will play on December 17, 2016. Tournament dates December 16-21, 2016. All 28 games at Fairdale High School.

I would say that Mason Faulkner also being on the ballot hurt Quentin Goodin more than Coach Gatewood's popularity did. I'm sure there are plenty of coaches in that area of the state that think Faulkner is better. They indicated so by the region POY being split.

 

Faulker is a wonderful player and deserved it no doubt about it, and I don't want to discredit he or Williams as they are awesome players and young men. I know for a FACT ppl around the 5th region don't like Gatewood or Taylor County. A lot of the dislike for TC actually goes back before Gatewood when they brought a transfer student in from Danville, and parents were giving jobs and housing. Then Gatewood bringing Sloan and Gaines in as transfer didn't help. Berry and Morgeson are from Campbellsville they did only play 1 year at Taylor County their senior year. So Gatewood has been at Taylor County for 3 years and has had 4 players transfer in.

No one from NKY is winning Mr. Basketball any time soon. They don't get enough press from around the state. Hollingsworth will be the overwhelming favorite next year and as long as he stays healthy he wins it going away.

Agreed. I would give my vote to hollowell over sebree. If he played for hoptown or Christian, he may be the front runner or on par with hollingsworth.

I would agree that 6th, 7th, and 11th Region players have a "leg up" as they all play in areas that have more widely covered and circulated Newspapers. I think Owen County did a very good job of getting Carson Williams exposure in these areas though and it certainly worked for him. Also, I'll say it again, not many, if any Mr. Basketballs come from teams that aren't successful against tough schedules.

KOB just keeps getting better and better. No tourney has sustained at the level of excellence in the state as the KOB. Fairdale is a great host school too, nice to have this gem in the City of Louisville for those that appreciate HS basketball.

Taveion Hollingsworth will soon be picking up a lot of offers.

 

The one offer he covets, may be the one scholarship that escapes him.....the University of Kentucky.

When you go south of boone, kenton, and Campbell counties, your are in central northern KY. Lol up here most of us only think of those three counties as "northern ky".

Owen County is about an hour from Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati. We don't have a problem with NKY not claiming us and if you want to talk about a lack of media coverage that'd be us. We do have a weekly paper that usually has 10-12 pages.
