How about seeding the top 4 teams and a blind draw to fill out the rest of the bracket?

I liked the old format. Fairdale's 91 back to back team was honored for their 25th anniversary win Saturday night. They basically won it playing three games in a 24 hour period. Played the late game on Friday night, the second semi-final on Saturday morning, and the Finals Saturday night at 8:00pm. Takes a great team to do that. I would like to see the games speeded up 25 minutes in between games and 15 min half times takes forever. Need to move it the week before the NCAA starts. If I'm not interested in the second game I usually head to the Hyatt to watch the tournament games. Not gonna wait around that long. Just my thoughts.

I agree on the times. 20 minute warmup and 10 minute halves would help.

Seeding only helps the perceived best teams avoid competition while making the perceived lesser teams have to go through a harder path to the title. No way to legitimately seed the teams. I'll support the Blind Draw for the Sweet 16 until my dying breath.

 

Old Format with two morning games in the morning and then title on Saturday night, IMO was a bad deal. Yeah kids play 2 a day in AAU but AAU games aren't quite as important as the State Finals (Sorry AAU fans, but you know it's true) you want kids to be at their best possible for the title game not playing 3rd game in 26 hours.

 

I don't know why Rupp wouldn't be available on Tuesday, make no sense that it wouldn't be. W-T-F is easier to miss work to go to the Sweet 16 than T-W-T-F would be, maybe that's why they have avoided Tuesday games. IMO starting Tues or Wed is fine either day doesn't really matter.

 

Current schedule IMO is the best compromise and IMO shouldn't be changed.

That's a reach and faulty logic. The format changed but the number of trophies didn't.

I like high quality basketball. Anyone who thinks a higher quality of basketball is played when one team is at a disadvantage time wise isn't being realistic. At least with the semifinals and finals on separate days everyone can get a good night's sleep if they want before the finals are played. Just because they did it like that in the old days doesn't mean it was right. I can think of a lot of things done in the old days that weren't right.

Also for old format! Bring back the Final 4 and Championship game on Saturday. A lot of ppl don't let staying that extra day.

I mean, it's just one year, but it worked for Warren Central in 2004. No doubt that 04 title game was played at a high level.

I did not like juggling the times/games in the first round, that did not have winners in a session playing each other in the next round.

 

We old people get confused easily. Until the quarterfinals were played I didn't seem to know who was playing whom following the first round.

 

It's not a perfect world and all of the tinkering in the world isn't going to make it perfect. Keep the brackets as they are drawn.

Three classes for basketball would help drive up attendance but we all know that ain't happening

It would be a tight squeeze but what if they played the entire 1st round on Wednesday to allow for a Saturday championship game? Something like this...

Session 1: 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30

Session 2: 4:30, 6:00, 7:30, 9:00

 

Yes it's an early start and a late finish but you get all 8 1st round games played in 1 day and the KHSAA still gets their precious break between sessions to charge everybody again. Yes they lose 2 sessions but they also avoid paying for Rupp Arena another day. It would also create a golden opportunity to bring back the 3rd place game.

I personally loved the old format and when they went to the championship on Sunday I went the first year of the new format and I haven't been back and I won't go back for the entire tourny, I'll just pick and choose the games I want to see. I had gone for 20 years straight till they went to the new format! To much money is spent. If they ever do go to a classes in high school they will kill the game in kentucky, just my opinion.
