How does TRINITY get picked 2nd by BGP Poll?

Featured Replies

Again, guys, we don't want every thread to spiral downward into a T vs X argument.

If it isn't relative to our 2007 preseason poll, and/or why Trinity was ranked 2nd in it, then it doesn't belong in this thread.

About the poll, Yes Male has some players who have played a year or two, but what really have they proven? Big Sam Webb, can he really anchor a line -- NO. Doug Beaumont, all purpose player, but has he really come through in the games for Redman when he needed him - - NO. So what have they proven? Look on the flip side, what has Petrino proven....enough said. Okay, one player doesn't make a team, how about Spoekler or McDermott, enough said. Trinity players, maybe less athletically than others prove they can play when it counts. So, BGP made the rankings for one reason, so the ROCKS can prove themselves again. By no means should they overlook X, they're out for revenge....

I guess sometimes it takes an outsider, one outside the whole X,T, and H culture, to really explain how a lot of these posts sound...   But keep it up, I love reading all the conspiracy theories, the supposed bulletin board material.. it is a game people. Most the time you cannot be realistic about your own team. Of course you are going to think your team is better; it is my feeling the BGP rankings are about as accurate as a poll can be.

Isn,t Male ranked #1? You would never know it reading these posts:D

I find it curious that a few T supporters are so quick to discount the September game with X (48-16 blowout) as ancient history because they won the game two months later in December. Yet fast forward eight months with a largely rebuilt and unproven team and they should be #1 because they won in December.

Not very consistent reasoning.

There are not many T fans that think we should be preseason 1.

I agree.

I'd place us third behind Male and X, although I think X will be tougher to beat than Male.

Too many question marks in too many key positions.

Finally, no answer for the All Staters Douglas Beaumont and Victor Anderson. they truly are difference makers.

Trinity won the title last year and that is all that matters but I think most people on the outside looking in agree St. Xavier was the better team.

If that's all that matters why quantify your statement with the latter part of the statement. St. Xavier certainly had a better resume for a season as a whole. But we were certainly better on that night in December, and maybe would've if we played more after that. We got better, maybe they didn't either way, there is no ascertainable way to guage who was better at the end, other than a head -2- head.

I think that most of the posts apply in people's opinions.

How could BGP disrespect mighty ole Trinity by not ranking them preseason No. 1???? Just who do they think they are???? I mean really,, what is ment by that statement that most people on the outside looking in felt St. X had the better team over Trinity last year..... This just cant be possible...... We are Trinity....!!!

Ive heard enough of the above position, Trinity fans, get over it ..... Take your Championship and get on with it.... The rest of the football community does not need to rubber stamp your success in the title game last year..... We all saw the results of the September game.......

That may well be, but people also saw the results of the championship game. I saw every Trinity game last season, and the improvement in the team from the first X game to the second was breathtaking. The Rocks got better every game and that culminated in the December game. That's what happens when you "finish".

I think the pre-season BGP polls got it right. At least on the top 3.

I do too, based on THIS years' teams.

Just all the trinity pollsters in this thread....

I am sure based on your standards unless we picked every post season game correctly we would be wrong.

Athlete for athlete maybe X was better (Manual may have had overall better individual athletes than both T & X)

Trinity was simply far more prepared (credit to the coaching staff) in the rematch and deserved to win.

Typically, if your team is in the top five, and the other four teams are ranked 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th, it only stands to reason that your team will be ranked 2nd. ;)

WOW!!!:D

Why can't a fan make a case for their team to be ranked #1? What rule was broken?

AMEN!!!!
