Qryche11 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 This video got me thinking about technology addiction and the distance it has created between people. How much do you look at your phone during the day?
75center Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I really don't use my phone very much at all, drives my kids nuts. They can't figure out why I only use my phone to make and receive calls and not many of them. If I don't get a call I may go days doing nothing on my phone except charge it.
Pete W Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I can put my phone down no problem..... My iPad has a bigger screen and battery :thumb:
doomer Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 My phone helps me to avoid meaningful face-to-face interactions with other humans.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I try to make a conscious effort to put it down whenever I'm out and about with someone. But in my place, I suck at it.
TAC Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 It is on my person during all waking hours. Far away when I'm in bed.
NKY Bandit Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I think mine is outside in my glove compartment.
nkuclubbaseball19 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I'm on mine way too much. Like MJ though, when I'm out with people (or even if we are hanging out together at a house) I make an effort to keep it down.
Beechwoodfan Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I keep mine with me, but do not use it much. We went to a nice dinner at Ruby's a couple years ago with a few other couples. Two people drove me nuts with picture taking and filming the entire night. Ruined the night for me. I love the convenience, but it has gone too far. Of course, I am so old, I can remember going out as a teenager and seeing my messages written on the chalk board in the kitchen. We didn't even have an answering machine. If someone couldn't reach you, they called back.
swamprat Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Couldn't do my job efficiently or effectively without mine. I can do twice as much in half the time, primarily because of it. It keeps me on schedule and keeps track of all my tasks. My phone is the reason my family and friends can rely on me, too. I try to be there when they need me. The phone is on and on me 24/7. I take the blue tooth off when I go to bed, but the phone is on the charger right next to my head. Embracing the technology is not always a bad thing.
JCVD Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 When I get home from work I generally set it on the table with my keys and wallet and leave it there. I'll check it periodically but I try not to have it on me when I am home.

If someone couldn't reach you, they called back. I still refuse to have call waiting or an answering machine or voicemail at home. I despise call waiting and if somebody misses us they can call back. If I see a call in caller ID that I think might be important I will call them back I do text though so anyone very close to me can communicate that way or call my cell phone if they need me.
