NKYFootballer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Saw this on my email this morning, a press release from the Reds. News conference will be held today at 11Am. Pete Rose joining Reds Hall of Fame in 2016 | reds.com
Bluto Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Great news! This Cardinals fan tips his hat to one of the greatest to play the game.
Mack The Knife Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I've been to the past 6 Induction Galas. Hope the HOF doesn't raise the price for this one. If not, I hope to be in attendance once again.
LOOGY Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Good for Pete, nice to see him be able to be honored this way
MJAlltheWay24 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Can't wait to work the games that weekend. Might be the only buzz in the ballpark besides Opening Day. Should be awesome!

TAC Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Why was he not already in the Reds hall? Did MLB ban it and has now lifted the ban for the Reds, but not the MLB hall?
footmaster Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Why was he not already in the Reds hall? Did MLB ban it and has now lifted the ban for the Reds, but not the MLB hall? Good question... He should've been one of the first guys in there...
SnottieDrippen Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Why was he not already in the Reds hall? Did MLB ban it and has now lifted the ban for the Reds, but not the MLB hall? They already show-ponied him at the All Star Game, might as well let him sell tickets for the Reds Hall too.
Watusi Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Why was he not already in the Reds hall? Did MLB ban it and has now lifted the ban for the Reds, but not the MLB hall? Not sure of all the legalities, but they said they recently amended the by-laws that allowed it, and they had to bet the Commissioner's permission, which he recently granted.
TAC Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Not sure of all the legalities, but they said they recently amended the by-laws that allowed it, and they had to bet the Commissioner's permission, which he recently granted. So the Reds went to the league and said; We have no all star game this year, we have no players that anyone will recognize so can you throw us a bone and let us have one big weekend featuring the hit king?
nkypete Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 ...and a statue is planned sometime. Pete says he would prefer to remembered with a head first slide and not him "standing at the two dollar window at Turfway Park!"
