Jumper_Dad
I heard 50% on Sunday morning on CBS while they were doing the story. Impossible, it would mean that blacks go to the movies at over 5 times the rate of whites. Maybe for one particular movie, but no way overall. Jumper_Dad
Just reporting what I heard. I have no idea. I've saw that a few places...someone said and others on TV have repeated it. No way it's close to true though. Just to offset me, someone would have to go to the movies 5 times more than me or about 200 times.

But it looks like it is about 15-18%.

bugatti
For everyone lauding Smith in Concussion, you know the movie flopped? Only movie I saw this year was Trainwreck. LeBron didn't deserve Best Supporting Actor for it
MayfieldFan
I think mountain ref is off his meds again, or took a few too many concussions back in his football days.
InItToWinIt
Mtn Ref, I'm surprised you aren't boycotting the Golden Globes too. Host Ricky Gervais made a joke (that was quickly deemed transphobic and offensive) about a member of the Jenner family. How dare he.
HHSHOG62
So next year when they give a black actor a nomination, for the sake of diversity, will that make the black actors feel better? "There were other actors better than you, but because you are an actor of color you get the nomination."
MJAlltheWay24
As for Will Smiths wife boycott Just because he makes a movie don't mean it is worthy to get an award. The movie with him and their son, "After Earth" wasn't too hot but I'm sure it was better than concussion Movie bored me big time.

Probably doesn't phase African American coaches when they get an interview in the NFL because of the Rooney Rule.
HHSHOG62
Probably doesn't phase African American coaches when they get an interview in the NFL because of the Rooney Rule. I agree that there are similarities, but the differences between the Rooney Rule and the nominations for the awards make this analogy invalid, in my humble opinion. When interviewing a coach, you can literally interview as many different people as you want. Heck, theoretically an NFL team could interview every single person in the world. I may be wrong, but I believe the nominations are narrowed down significantly from the original list, and only a certain number of actors are allowed on the final nomination.
