Props to Heppler' date=' he played a great game tonight. Not a lot of points but he is the one guy CCH has that can bang with Weyer and boy did he. He flat wore him down. My game ball goes to Heppler for doing the dirty work. He can be a big asset for CCH down the stretch.[/quote']

Hepp has been really good defensively on the block most of the season.

CovCath 14-16-11-17---58

NewCath 14-08-16-05---43

NewCath picks the wrong night to have their worst shooting performance of the season, 1st time they have been held to under 60 points. Silly turnovers didn't help either.

Both teams shot very good from the charity stripe

NewCath 14/18

CovCath 13/17

Very solid games from both Flood and Fredrick, considering they both had a rough one against Holy Cross....both stepped it up tonight.

I will agree with @Qryche11, BoKC/BB&T Arena is not friendly to the Breds.....especially when playing the Blue Colonels.

Bottomline: This game means nothing in the grand scheme of things, except bragging rights for the time being.

Until NewCath forces the issue at the rim, they will struggle at BBT. The weave out up top into a 3 pt shot needs a Plan B. If they are not hitting, they have to have something else. Hall seemed like he could penetrate well enough, but there is nobody inside the arc to pass it to. CovCath did a good job of stepping out on shooters as well.

It isn't a huge part of his game, but I hope in Regionals, when you just have to win, that they find a way to get Weyer the ball on the block consistently. He can play anywhere, but down where he can draw fouls and double teams would help the team so much in games like this. With his ability to pass, they wouldn't stay committed to the double very long. He is such a huge weapon, playing the high screen on the weave seemed like it limited his impact.

his dunk on Mayer...oh man.

Since this was accused of bashing AJ on twitter...just thought I should make it clear on here that I'm not calling the kid out by posting an observation from the game. :ohbrother:

Both sides were physical. I think the saying is, if you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen. And Weyer left the kitchen

What does that even mean?

To me the Breds in recent memory are like the Bengals. Big stage and bright lights = bad game

Sad, but true.

First chance this season to get out to see Ben play ball. Instead, I get to see him get grabbed, pushed, held, and bumped with each movement. It wasn't basketball, it was wrestling match. Surprised he was even able to muster the couple of baskets he did get.

Great job by Mayer, Heppler, and for a minute Sweeney. They executed the CCHS game plan perfectly. See what the stripes will let you get away with and continue until they call something.

Seemed to play a lot more minutes than normal tonight and came up big!

What does that even mean?

He didn't come to play. As it was stated, he seemed out of sorts all game. Ever kid can have an off game, I know. Just not what I expected to see from someone with his talent.

How about he play like the bigger, stronger and more talented player? He made himself small by not forcing the issue in the paint. Demand the ball on the block, get the smaller guy on his heels and play up to your talent. Instead he floated and played into their hands...

2 cheap early fouls in an emotionally charged game will do that. Lots of hands on him every time he bent over to grab his knees, off night shooting, lots of hands when he caught the ball. It is what it is. However, to say he left the kitchen made it seem like he didn't compete after a certain point, and that is not what I saw at all.

This is laughable! You should change those glasses from CovCath sunglasses to prescription. I don't know many men as talented as Ben who could handle having an extra 100lbs on their back all game. If you didn't see that then what game were you watching. If the refs allow it, then keep doing it though. Not blaming CovCath for a good game plan but the refs needed to handle it a little better. An off night shooting doesn't mean he didn't show up to play and for you to say that....well I will stop there. Hopefully these two meet again in Regionals. NCC has to get this CovCath/ BBT arena monkey off their back sometime.

The fact that those were the refs selected for that game blows my mind! Horrible officiating crew for both sides.

I agree Mex - Ben gets called for 2 cheap fouls in the first. Takes him out of the game defensively. Gets beat on in the offensive end by a platoon of players and never gets a call. It wasn't occasionally, it was every trip.

If Ben asserts himself offensively, he probably picks up his third foul. It was obvious this crew was not going to call the CCH contact.
