I agree Mex - Ben gets called for 2 cheap fouls in the first. Takes him out of the game defensively. Gets beat on in the offensive end by a platoon of players and never gets a call. It wasn't occasionally, it was every trip.

 

If Ben asserts himself offensively, he probably picks up his third foul. It was obvious this crew was not going to call the CCH contact.

Then bench the guards until you find someone to feed your really good post player.

 

Unfortunately I only saw Weyer ever attempt to post up hard and seal a smaller defender a couple times. The big has to want to be the more physical presence...

You lost me with the fouls Ben committed were "cheap" and then he was essentially assaulted on every trip. I didn't understand not posting up Ben early when he had AJ on him other than the 1x he did and was fouled. When Hepp was on him, he was easy to guard. He didn't have to be held, grabbed, assaulted, or anything else, because, as was mentioned, he essentially operated in a box at the elbow to screen twice, then pop out. When Hepp had him and Ben had the ball, he'd jab step twice then either settle for a bad three or reverse the ball. Once he got a back screen and he was able to get the ball going to the hole. Frankly, he just wasn't that hard to guard, which is crazy. He is super talented.

 

Moeves has a great stroke, but he is out of most sets just standing in the corner or sliding to the wing, and then back to the corner. Again, easy to defend. Hall needs to stay out of foul trouble because they lose a lot of play-making abilities with Pangallo and Ludwig.

 

The Anderson twins are very athletic, and bring a lot of energy, but when you add them to the best big in the region, they still get hammered on the glass. Coach Dawn needs to figure that out.

 

I don't agree with the thought that Ben needed to operate more with his back to the basket, except when AJ or Austin were on him, but they have to be more creative than him anchored to the left elbow every set.

Never know what your gonna get when you visit this site this year and read about these great teams and playas...wow - (just like ncaa this year) - should be very interesting next go round out at NKU arena for 9th region tourney...who the heck knows who shows...

My first time getting out to see Weyer, I was expecting a lot more. Pretty disappointed. Dropped open passes, once CovCath got physical he laid off and forced bad shots, idk how much the injury caused but I was expecting more.

I only mention going on the block and setting the tone as a way to back Cov Cath off what they wanted to do. Do that, and the rest starts to open up. Cov Cath wanted to be physical, and Weyer was fine with allowing it to happen...

Every shot that Weyer took tonight, he usually hits with very high consistency. This was by far the worst he has shot all year......maybe in his NewCath career.

If those are the shots he relies on, New Cath deserved the loss tonight. The only good look he took was the dunk...

Wow! Kid has one bad shooting night and some of you want to take him to the woodshed. If it's Bulletin-Board material Ben needs then you guys are giving him plenty.

If you have only seen him play this game, then I would agree with you......however, seeing just about every game he has played in Blue 'n Gold, those shots fall more often than not.
