As you know the boycotting I'm talking about has nothing to do with anything "rights" related. Disinterest. Even seeing it from the Crazies.

I wonder what effect it has had in Wisconsin. I would think anytime "the man" makes more rules it alienates the masses and as a result they don't show up.

Kinda like, "We respectfully agree to disagree with that call, Mr. Official".

Maybe, but I think it is an attendance loser and takes away from the game as a whole.

 

The world progresses so much faster than when were young and kids today are smart enough to know it is a waste of their time to play a schools childish games when you are not required to be at/in school.

 

For example, my daughter is a senior at Boone County but she is also enrolled in college and takes day and night college classes and will be a sophomore in college by the time she graduates high school. Additionally, she works a job, volunteers, and is looking at taking on another career related internship. In other words, it is hard to be interested in petty high school politics.

Disrespectful? What an absolute joke. The things that I've heard from student sections (both from within and on the court) are not even close to this. If they wanted to get rid of some actual inappropriate cheers - meaning ones that attack different socioeconomic classes, or the referee's personal lives - that would be fine. But cheers like "SCOREBOARD" and "AIR BALL" are what help make the high school basketball environment what it is today.

Badger fans will still be doing their "Jump Around". At least my 7 Wisconsin nephews will for sure be at the games.

I have heard it this year, but not as frequently as years past. Of course, the student section has been about 1/3rd as big as usual, so I assume it is proportionately even to prior years.

I will agree this is a little ridiculous. However, I have witnessed some inappropriate student section chants in my day. They are taking the conservative approach. That eliminates the needs for each school to determine what is appropriate and what is not.

They are also eliminating the need for fans.

The other night I went to a high school basketball game and a tennis match broke out.

Pretty soon we won't even be able to holler at the refs. The ole nuts and bolts chant will be replaced with "we beg to differ". Seriously this is pc run amuck and another phase in the softening of America. That said,I've seen student sections and some adults cross way over the line with chants, signs, banners etc...that create hostile environments that sometimes lead to bigger issues. I blame the school administrators for that.
