December 18, 201510 yr I don't think it is either but if he don't get at least 6 wins and get UK to a bowl game, his seat will be a lot hotter. It will be hot. But he will still be in it.
December 18, 201510 yr Jones said Mangino is high on the list. Template:Infobox University of Kentucky Offensive Coordinator Mark Thomas Mangino (August 26, 1956) is an American football coach, who until October 26, 2015 served as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Iowa State University. Previously, Mangino served as the head football coach at the University of Kansas from 2002 to 2009. In 2007, Mangino received several national coach of the year honors after leading the Jayhawks to their first 12-win season in school history and an Orange Bowl victory. However, he resigned as coach at Kansas two seasons later following allegations of mistreatment of players.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Mangino
December 18, 201510 yr 3 offensive coordinators in 3 seasons. That, my friends, is how to build a successful program in the SEC. I wonder if Elliott Uzelac is available? UK's three offensive coordinators in three seasons have been Neil Brown, Neil Brown, and Shannon Dawson. That is three.
December 18, 201510 yr I wonder what stories Shannon Dawson will tell about UK in 10 years. He may still have a career at that point by getting out in time. The stank only hit him for 1 year.

December 18, 201510 yr If I had to pick or hope... Baylor's OC - I'd try my best to get him any way possible, they put up a tone of offensive yardage... James Coley Lincoln Riley Houston's OC Unless they are going to UK for a better pay check, I cannot imagine why any of those guys would leave their current situation. Other than Coley, because he does not have a job. Especially Lincoln Riley. Oklahoma > Kentucky. He could have had the job last year if he wanted it.
December 18, 201510 yr After listening to the interview with Stoops on KSR, I'm on the fence with Stoops. Lots of mistakes with hires and players thus far. The only thing that keeps me in his corner is that they are still recruiting better talent.
December 18, 201510 yr Jones said Mangino is high on the list. Mangino was Bob Stoops OC after Leach went to Texas Tech correct? Has he lost any weight, he always looked like a heart attack waiting to happen before. He has always reminded me of the football version of Rick Majerus.
December 18, 201510 yr Jones said Mangino is high on the list. ^ That has now been removed. Mangino was Bob Stoops OC after Leach went to Texas Tech correct? Has he lost any weight, he always looked like a heart attack waiting to happen before. He has always reminded me of the football version of Rick Majerus. I'm hearing Walt Bell from Arkansas State.

Great comparison coaching wise and if UK and Stoops do hire Mangino and he can produce like Majerus did on the hardwood, UK will be in good shape. Stoops has to figure out what type of offense who wants to run and allow that OC to implement his system. Trust the guys you hire to do their job. Stoops has struggled, because he hired a very young staff and I believe not one other coach on his staff has HC experience on DI level. Take some advice from the Brooks Era, hire great assistants coaches and outcomes start to change. Even in Brooks first few years, they struggled but it had a staff with a number of years of experience and some up and coming coaches. Stoops has to find a middle ground with his coaches.

I totally agree with you. A Mangino hire would bring a great sounding board for Stoops and staff as a guy who has been there and done that. Kansas football and UK football are very similar.
