Just because someone lines up in the shotgun sometimes doesn't make it not pro-style. Coley is a pro-style coach with pro-style roots. Pro teams get in the gun. Yes, it will be a terrible hire. December 18, 201510 yr I will be happy to eat crow if this doesn't happen. Save the thread. Stoops is going to hire someone who will: A. Slow the tempo down to protect the crappy defense. B. More downhill running with extra blockers as te's H backs and or traditional fullbacks to protect the crappy defense. Write it down, our rushing yards will go up but our points and total offense will stagnate or decrease. Mangino makes more sense than Coley because he is older smarter and more experienced and could tell Stoops to shove it sometimes and command more respect. That's actually the kind of thing he needs around here.

No full field reads, multiple personnel groupings, etc. Coley uses alot of fast, one man reads. There is virtually no similarity to what Coley learned under Jimbo and what he runs at Miami. Specifically Miami's? What makes an offense pro-style? What makes it spread? Many pro-teams have moved into more of a spread based offense. Can't really call what New England or Green Bay do a traditional pro-style offense. Miami wasn't an explosive spread like Oregon, TCU or Baylor, but at its core Coley's offense was much more like that than it was Alabama or Michigan, or even Jimbo's.

Given the state of the program and the fact that this is the 3rd OC in as many years, I'm not sure UK could get anyone better at the moment. I like his style and he has a ton of experience. Of the other names being thrown around that would potentially even consider the job, Gran is the best option, IMO.
